I absolutely relish the fact that I don't have traction control. I've never owned a vehicle with it, and never want to.

2.5 gen is the best looking truck for sure. Second place is later part of 1st gen and later part of Toyota pick up.

You’re as cool as you were born to be. Coolness doesn’t come from a vehicle.
    Hopefully you’re cool.

I gave up trying to be cool halfway through High school. You can’t live life trying to please other people that you don’t know.

Can you actually shut it off, or just 'off'? I mean, some manufacturers give you a switch, but it either just disables part of the system. Mercedes and Ford are pretty bad with this. I'm sure other manufacturers are as bad, as well, I just... Don't generally care about it to begin with.

Wasn't cool in school. Was always one to stay on the down low.

On the other hand, before purchasing the the turd gen, was searching for a cool used 2nd gen because it looked cool until I saw the price folks were selling them for during the covid yadda yadda. The price wasn't cool.

I did the same! Sold my 2018 Turd Gen and bought a 2nd Gen again. Couldn't bond with the 3.5....even with an OVTune on it.
    Love the 4.0!

So I would say YES.....our trucks are still cool. ;)

The 2GR-FKS is both direct & port injected. Even runs a fancy injector cleaning cycle when you're idling at a stop light. Like another poster said, it's a Lexus motor, so it's definitely been vetted to be reliable, even if they added some tech to the motor or the auto's end up driving like hot garbage.

Yes, you can actually turn it off. How else am I able to do cookies in the parking lot?

I look at traction control as a nuisance, nanny-tech feature up shit happens and you actually need it and then boom...it ends up saving your ass from a wreck - kind of like seat belts haha.

Keep in mind that the technology that gives you traction control also gives us A-TRAC. I'm guessing you haven't used A-TRAC before since you have a 2007 w/out TRAC, but it is a very, very nice feature to have in your truck.

Having a 2WD in New England, this helps a lot. I don't even have to put any ballast in the bed of my truck to drive it in crap weather.

Yeah, no nannies at all in my 2007. I've driven Ford Econoline and Ford Transit vans (250 and 350HD) for my job for the last 8 years, and there's maybe one instance where the traction control has kicked in, but it was a nuisance, and didn't do anything to save me from a collision or wreck, but just got in the way. The automatic collision mitigation saved me once, though. That system generates a LOT of false positives. The lane keep assist is nice, but it can get thrown off by rain. Luckily, that system is extremely fast to enable or disable.

I've never used A-TRAC, but... I don't really feel, personally, like I'm missing anything. It's not exactly difficult to just turn the knob and put the truck in 4HI, and a minute later when up to cruising speed, put it back in 2HI. I also have a 6MT, so features that change shift points in the Automatic are pretty well lost on me, as well. Of the 7 vehicles I've owned in my lifetime, 0 have had automatic transmissions. :bananadance:
