@0xDEADBEEF @Wulf and other IT people...
I just bought 4 echo dots for $20 each to do multi-zoned audio streams in my house. For instance, all would go in a closet hooked up via 3.5mm to amps that run to speakers in designated rooms (2 bathrooms, 1 main room, 1 garage).
I don't need the speakers, and hell if I trust any software method of disabling microphones, so I might try blocking AWS voice servers outgoing before doing something drastic like disassembling each of them, buying a hot air station, and desoldering every mic on them. Firewall obviously poses challenges, because there's no guarantee I'm blocking everything, and no guarantee those servers won't change, and I also don't want to disable audio streaming. I don't know if it's like Google devices where your device connects solely to send it a stream URL and audio controls and the device is the one doing the service requests, or if it's more like Miracast/bluetooth and streams directly from your phone. The latter would be easier to deal with since I could just block everything outside my subnet, but I'm guessing its the former.
You guys have any experience with this stuff, or AWS?

Blocking the servers sounds easiest, but you’ll have to keep up a list.

I’d pop them open and remove the mic on one and see if it loses its shit when it figures out it’s Deaf. Might be able to just cut a trace with an xacto knife

I guess. Just seems weird to me that you'd want the hoses/resi's to be low and exposed...

Anyone have some special, elite, robust recommendation for what to paint coat particleboard garage shelves with? Oil, base (soap), and acid resistance is a major plus

I work with FireTV devices and they do phone home non stop. With the network proxied OTOH they make several requests per second to Amazon's backend.

Blocking voice end points might work if you can get the urls. I'm not sure if they're distinct from the others though. I can look at mine later if it would help
