Help! Tire Rub

So I got new tires a month ago for my 2003 Taco, I got 265/75/16 and thats what it came with when we bought it used and figured it would be fine. I guess the stock tires are 265/70/16? Well the tires rub the frame and idk what to do. I was thinking off priming/painting then putting some of that bedliner stuff over it to protect it from the tires rubbing, what to do you guys think I should do? Here are some pics of the tires (they look nice) and some pics of the tire rub on the frame. The rub is near to the back of the wheel well and is from the back part of the tire. I would love to get a lift but don't have that kind of cash, but just curious how high of a lift would i need to stop the rub from these tires?

 

diy bed liner stuff! you can get its at alot of auto parts stores! also you can allways add a lift! a 1in body lift. but you said the frame other then protection i dont know what else you could do.

 

you could get some wheel spacers to get the tire alittle farther out and away from the frame, kinda strange that it rubs, worn front end??

 

wheel spacers are nice! i dont have them just becuase i have fat wheels and tires but there really nice! thats a good idea!

 

Thanks for the posts! Any other thoughts? And any more info about wheels spacers like where I should get/what brand? And what do you mean by worn out front end, you mean like worn out front suspension or something?

i assume you have a 6 lug set up seeing that you have 4x4 and sr5 this means your going to need 6 stud spacers. you can find them on ebay for about 50bucks a pair. make sure you get the 6 stud and also get 4 so you dont look like a goober! ahhahaha

 

well 265/75r16 is the stock tire and being that it rubs on the frame, your front suspension might be worn out some, sagging in the front might be dropping the truck enough to rub, as for spacers u can try wheelersoffroad.com and as for the worn front suspension u can look into getting used stock trd front coils and struts from like craigslist and replace your old ones with barely used ones for cheap

 

thats correct.............................and i have a set of trd coils off my 04 double cab that im needing to sell.....great price too!!! on an access cab, they will add about an inch to and inch and a half of lift......and they only have 46k miles on them.

my truck has 85k miles on it should the front suspension be worn out already?

 

its pretty normal. the guy who the truck i have before i got it rode it hard and put it up wet. the front coils are in great shape...but the rear leafs were shot as well as the bushings and shocks. i replaced everything............and added new coils to match the rear springs i got. and the truck only had 46k on it when i got it a few months back. if you want these coils....i'll make you a great deal.........and they will take care of your rubbing more than likely....plus your truck may handle a bit better with a bit of a stiffer coil up front...your call.

 

It will probably be a few days before i decide what im going to do, my dad will be paying for whatever we do to fix it and he will want to talk to the tire shop and toyota

 

I will consider your offer, but I'm going to look at all of my options first. I'm not completely sure about buying used shocks though, not saying that you are trying to rip me off or anything.

 

thats cool man. im not about ripping people off......i dont play that game! but to let you know...these are the coil springs....you will need to use the shocks you have, or get new ones to go in there.

 

stock tires are 265/65/16 not 265/75/16..... I went in the middle to 265/70/16s so i wont rub on full turn..If you run 65s or 70s it wont rub even if your suspension is worn, or get at least a 2.5 inch lift to run the 75s.

 

Trivial, but IIRC, Stock size is 265/70/16, not 265/75 or 265/65.
