Good morning, Question for anyone in the STL area. I'm looking for a rear end for A 99. any suggestions for wrecking yards in the metro area? Also, are the TRD package and SR5 same gear ratio? thanks

The rear ends differ between auto and manual transmissions, and TRD package is not specific enough there are multiple TRD packages across the line. In general the TRD off-roads do have heavier rear ends than the TRD Sports although I'm not 100% sure on the first gen's. @JTFisherman

Edit: 1st gen MTs have 3.91, 1st gen ATs have 4.10 regardless of trim.

We have 4x4. It'll be fine

Great info to know, it didn’t even cross my mind about the AT being a different ratio. I believe the TRD for the first gens was a limited slip. That was the main reason I was considering the TRD rear end. Good ole alaska salted roads have rusted out my brake backing plates. If i could find a TRD rear end with limited slip that would be a nice upgrade. Thanks for the reply

The lander was also not surrounded by trees I suppose, I don't know. :notsure:
I'm just going off my knowledge of 'more things between you and the person you're talking to, the more wattage you need'.
I'm also wanting the power for emergency situations if I need to reach out to emergency services in a SHTF situation. Maybe that's overkill, but for ~$300 for 45W with an antenna its pretty good price wise. It's either that or I go small with the Midland Micromobile 15W unit so I can hide the box in my dash and run the handset through the tray where the Parking brake is for a manual.
