    Afternoon all:

Well, looks like someone scarfed the primers up, they aren't listed today.

AND, if you go above a certain income level you will pay more for Medicare part B, I just got a letter where my Medicare premium will be $340.20> $170.10 for the standard Medicare premium, plus $170.10 for the Medicare part B IRMAA based on 2020 income. Well there just went the HUGE raise we are getting plus some extra $$$$!

Just now dipping our toes into those waters. I'm officially retiring in January 2022 :woot: so we need to transition off my employer's health insurance and into Medicare World. We're both over 65 but have not yet signed up for Part B, so the first order of business is to prove that we've been covered by health insurance since that age. Funny thing is, the federal forms my employer sends every year as proof that we are covered are not accepted as proof by the federal government! Anyway that is just Step One in what I can tell is going to be a really, uhhmmmm, what's the word, interesting, process. Wish us luck!

I'm not, but when I do make a little bit of extra capital it seems like someone always wants a chunk of it! Wonder if I would sustain losses that I could write off, and get me into the poverty level, if I could go on welfare for that year , YEA RIGHT!
When I rolled over my traditional IRA to a Roth the same thing happened, even though I didn't take a penny out of it, it was treated as income and I had to pay more for Medicare for one year. If I had done it before age 65 and medicare I wouldn't have had to pay that extra, in fact I did it at age 64, could spread it over a 2 yr. period, so I only needed to pay extra for the 1 year I was on Medicare. By being able to spread it over a 2 yr. period it also dropped the tax bracket or I would have really got fleeced if it was only for the year that I did it in!!!!
Somebody gotta pay and I'll leave it at that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come to think of it, maybe I am rich! o_O
Don't owe anyone anything and have a dollar in my wallet, only when that last dollar is gone and I can't pay for the things I need is when I will be part of the middle class.

I went from a 401 to a ira so i wouldn’t have to deal with extra income crap the first year.
I would have paid my first born if I had done it any other way cause I had already made to much on my birthday…
So 2021 paperwork is going to be stressful no matter what. I’m sure some strange hidden tax or sub component is going to bite my ass hard..

Oh man don't get me started on taxes. I did my mom's taxes for 2020 because dad passed away in October of that year; the feds have that return ROYALLY messed up and I can't get a straight answer from anyone on whether we've done what's needed to show them the error of their ways. Next up is my mom's final tax return... ...not looking forward to it...

Dave, How ever good you are at figuring tax returns sometimes it’s way worth it to just pay a good CPA to do the return. Less hassle, less headache. More time to fish and drink beer. About 25 years ago my tax returns became quite complicated with my income, side business, investment portfolio and others. I turned it over to a CPA and friend and never looked back. When my father died I had an estate attorney and a CPA handle everything. It was one of my better decisions. Anyway just a suggestion.

Maybe all CPAs are not created equal... but my experience is that having your taxes done by a professional is a waste of money. I've done my own taxes for fifty years and the one year I hired a CPA (2007) I still did them. The CPA charged me $800 and the difference in my taxes was $15. I don't honestly remember which was lower but I know I turned my own in and threw the CPA's in the trash.
I keep a file for all reciepts catagorized by what question they are expected to satisfy on the tax return and it's really pretty easy with all the free tax return help online through gov.com.

I’ve never ever been charged anywhere even near to $800. In fact CPA’s have saved me a lot of $$$. I’m on my second CPA since my friend retired and I’m happy as can be with her. I just don’t want the hassle or headache of doing the tax returns. But you got to do what’s right and good for you.

Yeah, believe me when I say I was shocked... DAMN!!! And I don't even consider my taxes that complicated. I did sell some real estate that year, but holy cow.

    Good morning fellow Porchies!!

Snowed all day here yesterday but only accumulated an inch in the yard.

The guys replacing our bridge poured the deck supports yesterday - they are still working from 6:30 AM until 4 PMish. I don't envy them in this weather.

We've used a CPA to do our taxes every year for decades. Lynn is a CPA. :D

    Be safe out there!!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! It's a foggy one here, but clearing out and warming up quick.
Think I'm headed off to HF to find some wheels for that generator, so I can actually MOVE it. And some other errands. While I was waiting for my boxes yesterday, I decided it was more exciting to install the "ultimate headlight upgrade harness" than to clean the garage. Unfortunately, the condensation returned to the passenger side, so I won't have a good comparison pic on the garage door until I get it dried again. Guess I'm going to have to pull and seal it. As much fun as that is, just replace it? But then I have to store the spares. Probably fix it.
    Have a great HumpFriday!

    Morning all:
My young fishing buddy Jim got to use the deer cart I built and donated to him, he said he is very happy with the way it worked.
Not a monster, but a decent PA buck, too bad the one point is broken off.

Well today is a project day. I started building a headache rack for my truck, and am contemplating an attachment to extend it for temporary purposes to haul long lumber lengths in small quantities. Something that attaches at the hitch and extends up to create a platform... maybe even extending over the cab past the headache rack to support anything reaching forward.
The ideas and energy are competing with each other...LOL.
I've got some 14+ foot trim coming to complete the pole barn.

Oh maaannnnnnnnnnn... now you've got me thinking. (It hurts, it hurts...lol) I'd never thought about folding it down to extend the bed. That's pretty cool. Crap, now I'm probably not gonna sleep tonight.

How about a picture of it down and without the flag obscuring the mechanism?

The straps in the upright position confirm one of my concerns about wobble side to side. I was going to do the straps too.

Can’t give you dismantled pics now because the bed is loaded with construction material. Basically, everything comes apart for almost flat storage… just remembered I got on Amazon.
Lund 601021 bed extender $138 5 years ago and still priced at $139 today! Yes, in upright position, it will need a strap for stability side to side. I have a stock roof rack, and can adjust the extender to perfectly match the roof rack front and back, for a 3 point tie down.
