ATRAC only functions when activated in 4lo, unless you have a 2Lo module:dancingbacon:

Just as a heads up, the mechanical limited slip diff in your 2007 is a form of "nanny-style" traction control...it's not just your instaneous reflexes or your superior ability to navigate hazardous conditions with the utmost ease. Let's not pretend you haven't had a bit of help along the way ;)

Traction control is ok, most of the time it only wakes up to control wheel spin on a snowy road where you're stopped at a light and trying to pull away again.

However, stability control definitely saved me one time on an off-ramp curve when I hit a patch of black ice and the rear of the car suddenly and with absolutely no warning at all started coming around. Before I even had a chance to react and self correct/counter steer, it was like an invisible hand reached down from above and gently pulled it back in. With two high snowbanks on either side a spin-out would have definitely caused a lot of damage, and there were cars behind me on the ramp as well. Not good. This was at a speed of less than 30 mph. I'm a believer.

This has been my experience as well. Heading up to the mountain, hit a patch of black ice at about 40 mph, truck fish tailed, starts beeping at me and the "invisible hand" comes down and straightens everything out :). It think the minor "problem" of peeling out for 1/4 of a second is a fair price to pay for a passive traction control system that you can turn off.

Plus - A-TRAC is the shit. Aired down to 15psi w/ A-TRAC engaged allows me to go out crabbing & slaying surf perch on the dunes every summer. Can't tell you how many times I've had to yank out other stuck vehicles w/ my snatch-strap and, after coming from a 99 4Runner w/out any of the TRAC features, I can tell you A-TRAC is worth every penny.

I knew there was a warning lamp, but I didn't know there was warning beep as well when the ESC was activated. I think that's a good feature too: gives you a "heads-up" to take it easy for the rest of the trip, especially if you didn't notice the warning light.

Another nice feature of the Stability Control is the inclusion of the electronic trailer sway control that is added with the tow package... especially considering it is there and will function regardless of the size or weight of the trailer you are towing.

I put 3rd Gen OR wheels on my 2011 sport. Definitely updated the look of the truck.

I picked them up and they were in SCS boxes. For $350 total was a great deal.

My truck is unlifted on 265/70/16 Michelin’s, so “cool” means something different at 35 than it did when I bought it at 24.

Idk how many others would consider me “cool” for driving this truck but damn if I don’t smile every time I walk out and see her like this

A-TRAC is on the off-road/pro to control wheel spin when in 4low. It's more aggressive than the eLSD and works both the front and rear diff.

I traded in my 14 for a 3rd gen and I still love the 2nd gens (really all Toyota trucks.) I think a nicely set-up 2nd-gen is the coolest looking truck out there. They have the perfect mix of sportiness and toughness. I think the 3rd gen looks a little more aggressive but not as sleek. I think anyone who is a real Toyota fan will always appreciate all Toyota trucks for what they are. It isn't about having the newest truck or thinking you are cooler for having the current model.

Thank you. I was confusing it with the rear differential lock system. Is this feature included as standard on any of the Pro models or as an option? I ask because it is explained in the owners manual (2014) but it's not mentioned in the 2014 Tacoma brochure I have: neither in the packages list nor in the standards/options/package or specifications list in the back.

It is standard on the TRD off-road, Baja, and Pro trims and cannot be optioned on the other models.

Thank you. With all the aforementioned systems, - and - having a true locking rear diff option at your fingertips as well, it's no wonder they almost never get stuck.

I have a 2018 TRD Pro. I think the 2nd gen looks better. The 3rd gen has this strange macho look in the front while the rear looks outdated compared to the rest. The 2nd gen was better balanced

I suspect the 4th gen is going to continue with the macho look.

Love having a 2nd gen. Had it since 07 and now that I fixed up the suspension and put new wheels on it feels like a new truck. I think the 2nd gens look better than the 3rd gens and prefer the 4.0 to the 3.5

Same thing with my 2010, while it was getting reframed they replaced some of the suspension under the program. I ponied up for the parts of it they weren't. Rides sweet.

You ever notice how the 2nd and 3rd gen appear to use the exact same cab body? It seems only the front clip and bed panels were changed.

I felt the same way about my 2019 OR - felt like it was trying to look aggressive. Kind of like those Jeeps w/ the "angry" headlights that make them look like they're pushing out a painful turd.

I agree the 2.5 gens look alot more balanced. Plus they don't have the giant hood of the 3G's, so I feel like they're a bit easier to "thread through the needle" offroad.
