What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

In my continued quest to make my shortbed truck carry more stuff, I purchased a gladiator cargo net. Expensive but really heavy duty.

cry. It was a total brain fart. had been going through things this morning when I was way too tired and forgot to reload my glovebox. When they called I had a total Homer Simpson Doh! moment.

 

Waiting game begins again. correct fog lights are getting processed, and hopefully shipped out, today. return label for the incorrect lights will be coming with the new package.

 

I thought the same thing, but it turns out that a really good compressor can flow more air than what you can run through a single schrader valve in your wheels. There are a lot of variables (pressure variation, temperatures, etc.), but in general, you can only flow about 4.5 cfm through a standard schrader. So if you have a compressor that flows more air than that, you will actually increase the inflate speed by airing up at least two tires at the same time.

Edited to add: An ARB twin compressor, for example, is rated to flow 6.16 cfm at 0 PSI, and 4.68 cfm at 29 PSI. So in theory, you'd see a faster inflate speed by inflating at least two tires at once, because you'd get the maximum output that the compressor can provide for at least the first 30-ish PSI. But just how much faster? I'd be interested in seeing some real-world testing. I searched YouTube and can't find anything. Sounds like a great opportunity for someone to put together a video

 

So for on trail it wouldnt make much of a difference. ARBs twin has a flow rate of 4.68cfm, so not much more than the valve can handle in the first place. But when airing up with a co2 tank or from a home compressor 4 tires at once will air up faster.

Great minds think alike. I was actually editing my post to add some specs on an ARB twin compressor myself. I'd be really interested in seeing some real-world testing. I'd guess the difference is negligible. Maybe 30 seconds faster for two tires at once instead of doing them individually? I suppose it depends on what PSI you go up to, as well. I have 33" tires and usually inflate them from 18 PSI to 40 PSI, so I would only be squeaking a little bit more air flow out of that compressor, and only for the first minute or so.

If you're running a higher volume compressor, it might make a pretty big difference. But it seems to me that the biggest benefits to these multi-tire inflation systems are: equalization of all 4 tire pressures (if that's even a big deal to folks), and the fact that you can do all of the set-up and tear-down at the beginning and end, instead of having to move from tire to tire throughout the process. Although that wouldn't necessarily be faster (since you'll probably spend the same amount of time connecting/disconnecting each tire as you would if you were inflating them individually), it does provide you with a larger chunk of uninterrupted "hands-off" time in the middle of the process, which you could use to socialize with friends or grab a snack/cold beverage, I suppose.

 

Took her across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on a road trip to New England for Thanksgiving. Got to see all the weathers, sun, snow, rain, and ice. It was a fantastic trip.

 

Setup and tear down times could be longer with a multi tire system. Instead of a single hose that needs to be rolled up, you have 4 hoses and a manifold to roll up. The down time while waiting is certainly a nice thing, you can use that time to check for damage, check fluid levels before hitting the paved roads, or making sure everything is secured.

As for setting all the tires to the same pressure at the same time, this is a nice feature just due to only having to measure and adjust (high or low) 1 hose instead of all 4 tires by them selves. Granted some cars and trucks do have different pressures front and rear, the tacoma is the same on all 4.

The dealership I worked at had a nitrogen system, it hooked up to all 4 tires at the same time and set all the pressures. It was super fast just due to the volume it could send out in the system.

 

Ordered SS3 Max yellow fogs (non backlit version) from Hotshotoffroad to go with the OEM TRD Pro LED Headlights I ordered over the weekend.

 

Ran that trip many times over that bridge going from Chesapeake to Rhode Island. Love that drive up the eastern shore....

Installed my Victory4x4 Console MOLLE panel today. Works great! Holds my M&P shield 9mm well in the 1.5” belt clip cutout and also added a Streamlight flashlight. Plan to add a multi-tool also! Functional space addition!

But "ditch" lights are supposed to be aimed at the ditch, and not straight down the hood.

 

i got the SS3 sport. after doing some comparison on the other fogs, this is the best one that liked.

 

yeah these are constructed really well and the light pattern lights up the road making it easier to read the signs

 

Got tired of looking at the chrome ring and rubber grommet, so upgraded to this collar.
