I grew up hunting and not baiting, don't think we could then. All we had were oak trees to hunt. There also weren't many deer around then.

I love deer hunting with dogs, haven't done that in 15 years though :D

I can’t sit still either unless I know somethings coming in, and deer love apples.

I’ve only ever done it in town in my grandpas hay fields.

I’ll sit on a wallow for elk though

I guess what I was trying to say is that you guys have the option. If I could I probably would. And the host of the tv show is right. I hunt deer on some buttes next to a stubble field they feed in every day. You cant say that's not baiting to some extent?

Day 2 in NE Ohio gun season......quit early as son was feeling sick (worse than yesterday) and had to drive home. My back is killing me anyway from sitting for a second straight day. No deer and only heard 1 distant shot @ 8:45 AM. Will try to rest my back and go back tomorrow.

Day 1 was a total BUST!!! 4+" of fresh wet snow overnight Sunday!!! Lots of tracks crossing thru in-laws property on the way to the ground blind. Bad part is that every seedling/sapling was covered with snow making seeing any distance almost impossible. As the day warmed the snow melted, but falling snow made it tough to see for a different reason. Hardly ANY shooting at all - couldn't figure that out less than a dozen shots - all before 9 am, too??? Never saw a deer or heard any close shots that get you excited. Maybe not cold enough to get the hunters moving??? Seemed more like a rainy/windy Wednesday or Thursday instead of the gun opener. Saw 1 hunter on the neighbor's property.

Hope tomorrow is better, 50 degrees forecast for Thursday?!?!?!

Yeah only certain counties you can run dogs here in N.C. for deer, we always had to visit a hunting club that friends were in though. I've missed more than I've ever killed in front of dogs though. I just enjoy hearing the dogs run.

My son wants to shoot a squirrel, I told him he had to eat it, he said if mom will cook it he will, she said if I skin it she'll cook it. I haven't skinned a squirrel since I was a youngin. Just found this video, makes it super simple.

We shot quite a few squirrels back packing one year, better than Mountain House and good break from fish after loading it up with seasonings

I used to shoot rabbits out of my daughters bedroom window at our first house. We'd grill them with heavy smoke and wrap in bacon. My wife and daughter actually loved it. Pretty similar to squirrel IMO. Ain't there an easier way to skin squirrels? I'd skin rabbits like the video. Pretty sure you can just make a cut below the tail and step on the tail and pull the squirrel up and its pretty much tube skinned. Guess its 6 in one hand half dozen in the other.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
Grew up sitting over soybeans, cut down corn fields, and corn piles. Deer will come out to all of em.

Also grew up and still dog drive. I'd much rather be sitting in a tree. I mostly go now b/c the property owners I hunt w/ like to do it towards the end of the season.

200 dressed max. Folks always underestimate the weight of the gut pile.
