I've actually heard good things about Faulkner.

The few times I've been to the Toyota dealer I immediately wish to be back in a VW dealership. What a difference.

    I mean so far they've:
    • looked at my windshield - determined to be scratches
    • tightened the front splash guards as they were rattling around
    • checked the brakes - squeaky with buildup of pad material
    • new passenger side mirror - mine was cracked
    • repair / replace the door
    • water pump replacement
Before I picked it up I got the works free of charge:
    • DSG service
    • spark plugs
    • oil change
    • pano roof drains cleaned and joints lubed
    Honestly loving the service!

Now that's service! Toyota wanted to charge me to tighten a bolt in the door. While under warranty!

Have you had the high pressure fuel pump follower inspected or replaced? Cheap insurance to prevent catastrophic failure/collateral damage

Don't quote me, but I believe his version of motor has fixed or redesigned this. It was in my 2.0 TSi. It was changed to a roller style follower from what I remember. It was a problem in the older 2.0 TFSi motors.

Wow that's wild! This is just a CPO car and they're doing all this. I know the water pump had a TSB or something, and after reading what @a2lowvw mentioned I decided i'd have them check it out while it's there.

btw, @a2lowvw any more project alltrack content? Something like that is my literal dream daily.

I haven't done anything to the high pressure fuel pump but I will address it if needed.

    are there warning signs?

VW warranty is no joke. It sure isn't the hoops that Toyota makes you jump through to get something fixed. We inadvertently bricked the ecu so it went back out to get unlocked again and have an updated lpfp coming as it is was maxing out the stock alltrack pump (to be expected).

Well hopefully that gets resolved so there can be a feature somewhere! The guys at Hoonigan should do a Build Breakdown on it once it's complete, since they are a bunch of VW lovers too.

I really don't think your motor has the same issues as the older ones. I did some quick Googling and it looks as if yours has the roller follower. This was made to address the issues the earlier 2.0s had. Like Mk5 time frame. They didn't have a roller in the friction surface. It was a flat top that was operated by a cam lobe. They'd wear through quick and cause some major issues. I don't think folks were experiencing any warning signs before failure.

Hoonigan is stuck on the Audis right now. Scotto (the guy in charge of the media arm) just bought two Quattros from Germany and is having them shipped over. His Audi that's been banging around for a long time just had a huge SEMA build. It's barely street-legal. He's got a green Swallowtail Rabbit at the shop that looks nice, but they barely mention it.

And with Ken Block's new partnership with Audi.... He just bought a Sport 90 clone and had it shipped over, and rebuilt for SEMA.

I've offered to work for them many times. Not sure why they're ignoring me.....

Correct the Gen 3 EA888 motor doesn't have cam lobe and hpfp tappet failure issues like the early VW FSI motors (EA113).

    I ended up detailing it.

I feel it’s fair as the service manager met me at his personal shop near my house to give me my garage clicker I forgot lol

Show me a Golf Tdi two door and I would buy it in a heart beat. Pounded a 100 mile a day commuter Jetta diesel for 300K @ 50 mpg.

No more Golfs. Unless you want the R. And I have a feeling VW won't be bringing a diesel back to the US. In forever...
