Stripped a screw, now what?

Just take a 3/8 socket extension and place it on top of the screw and tap it a few times with a hammer,the shock will loosen it up

 

Impact screwdriver, what I used on mine, simple.

 

Tried that, won't move.

 

Well, I'm not a smart man but I'm guessing it's because they want use thier own parts that are marked the hell up

Gotta make that money.

 

OMG I got it!!! Putting the #2 phillips screwdriver in and smashing it down with a hammer knocked it loose.

During cleaning I've discovered a new potential issue in the intake manifold. New topic, so I'll start a new thread... (edit: nvm, I'm doing it in this thread, see below)

 

Replace those screws with Allen head screws, apply anti seize when putting it back together

 

Why, keep this one going... it's all the same repair.

 

Or just use JIS tools like you should

 

Ok, since I've got everyone's attention on this thread!

2 pics below, intake manifold (that's what it's called, right?) where I removed the throttle body.

Is there supposed to be a hole there going into the EGR something or another? I scraped at it with a toothpick and wiped it with a rag and throttle body cleaner. Can't tell how deep the gunk is gonna go, but it sure does look like a hole is completely blocked. I'm unsure I want to keep going yet, for fear of gunk dislodging and going into the engine. I have no fault codes, at least not with my cheapo OBD2 reader.

In addition to the intake manifold gunk issue above, one more Q for tonight...

As I turn the throttle on the throttle body, there is a significant noise that sounds like an old worn spring, not alarming but I doubt it's new sounding. Worth disassembling further to clean or replace a spring, assuming that's what it is? Earlier before taking off the throttle body I thought the spring noise was on the front where the steel wires clip in, but now it's apparent it's on the rear, next to the TPS, and hidden behind that yellow plastic bushing in the pic. Need to remove more JIS screws to get at it. Not sure if I should just be blasting throttle body cleaner in there.

I bought some 555 lower balljoints, 4340 chromoly rear axles and bearing pockets just a couple years ago and my dealership gladly installed them.

Took a reman front diff from ecgs that I had locked and geared and they looked at me like a 3 legged hooker. But these are the same morons who took 1.5 hrs just to get my front skid off to get to the drain plug.

 

Here’s another great option. The “limited clearance” APEX 446 #2 bit worked perfectly for removing stubborn Mass Airflow Sensor screws.
