There's a light covering of snow this morning in my yard in nw connecticut...had a couple inchs fall the other day. Must be from all that global warming they've been hammering us with.

We have had our first snow a couple weeks ago now it's almost gone, but I'll take every day with out it as a gift. Normally it's here for 5 months seeing snow isn't that big of deal. When you get my age you would rather have the warmer climate. Here in Nodac we get 4 seasons. With cold in the winter from -50 and heat in the summer in the 100's. Both are extremes but happen time to time.

You should come up here during one of our nice blizzards when we get 7"+ or more with 40+ MPH winds interstates closed for a day or so because the under passes have 12' hi drifts and all the people that got stuck on the roads and ditches slow the opening of the roads make it fun time . In town it's even more fun when people in cars and no ground clearance with bald tires venture out and hi the ruts made by 4x4's plugging up intersections slowing clean up is the best. Usually I'll drive by and think what were you thinking. Sometimes I'll help if it looks like I can do it safely. Hi traffic, areas with people trying to go around and get bye no way . What I do like about being snowed in is cooking and cuddling with my wife. But will have more time for that when I retire in 4 months.

Give me lots of snow and cold weather, I will be glad to take it off your hands :) Where I live it is always hot and sunny. and was surprised to see the snow yesterday here on Mauna Kea. For a change of climate I like spending my winters in Wyoming / Idaho for snow sports which is my favorite part of the year. Leaving next week to pick up a Mag Gray Tacoma that was ordered 3 weeks ago and hoping for enough snow to do some backcountry skiing / snow-machining.

Your right. Gotta get up to speed on the terminology. I should be old enough to know that these weather patterns have happen before.

Thanks to the “ 9th” for posting a picture of snow cap on Mauna Kea mountain…this is a older picture…
Our snow does NOT last very long….mostly of it will be melted by this weekend….?
I don.t know the prices of snow tires…only those who visit the observatory may buy them? ..the workers…
They do use snow chains sometimes, and they have snow plows too…
If it is too icy or windy they will close the 4x4 road…to visitors..remember it is 13,803 feet to the top…and 40% less oxygen (air)…
It is a very scenic road…
When it is very clouded….looks like fog…till you go above the clouds…so shiny, see will see blue skys…a lasting site! A “Wow moment” as you get above the clouds!!!

We visit the Big Island almost every May for 2 weeks and have been up to the Summit a few times. Would be awesome to tackle the mountains in a Taco! Def post some pics for us.

We usually get snow on Haleakala in January. Nice to go to the snow in the morning and paddle board on the ocean in the afternoon. Only in Hawaii.

We can do that in Maine too, right now, just a slight difference in water temp though.
