This right here is spot on OP. Do not use the overflow as your level indicator. Pull the rad cap when cold if the radiator is full your good.

It’s not a joke, it might not have been the techs fault, and above the low is ok according to the owners manual.

It can be normal for the coolant reservoir to be a little low after a system drain.
Sometimes air get trapped in system. Depending on the time you have available, you can usually get most of it out. However, most techs are paid flat rate, and most customers are impatient.
That leaves the tech with about 2 or 3 options.

    1. Take extra time, make less money, and keep the customer waiting.
    2. Fill the reservoir to full, and hope it doesn’t over flow when the truck heats up. (Most won’t)
    3. Inform the customer that it’s not uncommon for the reservoir to become slightly low, and if it does you will gladly top it off if they come by the shop.

It sounds like option 3 wasn’t an option in your case.

:rofl:Guy wasn’t having any part of swapping Left for the Right.

Evidently, one shock is longer according to him. I have never seen this. And if he would have taken them off, I bet he would have seen there was no difference in length.

Sometimes you just can't help a person.

Whats the ol' saying about a horse and water??? Oh yeah...... You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make the horse drink.

Unfortunately, I believe you are experiencing the dreaded head gasket failure that some model Tacomas are known for. From what I just read ,it occurs on the '05 and early '06 year models. Now...wait a minute...nvm...damn it!

Nope I have a 2010 and I been checking frequently if my coolant level is going down so far it hasn’t.
