i have a 96 tacoma 2.7 4x4 5 speed the stock ratio was way to high hardly ever used 5th gear except on freeway at 70 mph i talked to a guy they called the gear guru back east he told me there was no question 4:88 ratio was the way to go the engine and trans love that ratio , i also went to 32x1150x15 BFG all terrain tires 33s were a little to tall on ratio and with a 2.5 lift worked out perfect with 32s has a slight rub when turn sharp but not bad , good luck with your vehical im sure if you go this route you will be very happy. Al ps. i also have a stock diff in very good shape if you know anyone interested front and rear i also used detroit soft lockers not as agressive as the common detroit lockers

OP, unfortunately, this is correct. Hopefully you also won't ask about running 33s and 3" lifts with a 5 lug. You will be disappointed with the answer but regardless, welcome to TW.
