Official 2021 NCAA Football Thread

I was second guessing that stat in the clip.

 

I haven’t checked the stats does it mean regular seasons or post seasons included? Or is it simply wrong on both haha

 

It’s wrong. Clemson has had several 10+ win regular seasons in a row. Think their last 9 win was 2014, if what I’m looking at is right.

 

Maybe he was counting regular season and including this season who knows. Some people like to cherry pick and create their own facts. Maybe he’s one.

 

I have never hated USC or UCLA. We rarely see a game anymore because they just fell out of relevance in college football. I do remember often watching them in their glory days, though even then the best part was always the cheerleaders.

Ask Michigan fans what they think of Rich Rod...

 

All he did was continue winning more.. and then they got Brady Hoked.

Still disappointed we never tried to get him back. The school president that chased him out is gone (fired). I miss winning.

 

Not so much, actually. Never finished better than 7-6 at Michigan and ended Michigan's consecutive bowl appearance streak of 33 years. His first season he finished with the worst record in school history. (3-9). He was a decent offensive coach but his defenses were horrid. I still remember the 67-65 OT game with mediocre Illinois. Many people attribute Michigan's downfall in the late 2000's to him. As Michigan got worse it allowed Ohio State to get far better than any other team in the conference.

Hoke came in and he was a great recruiter but not a good coach. Harbaugh went 11-2 in his first season with a team that went 5-7 the previous year under Hoke. Harbaugh has had his issues but has only finished with a losing record once and that was 2020 (hard to put weight into that year given the circumstances). His worst season outside of 2020 was still better than Rich Rod's best season at Michigan.

 

That was my point, Hoke came in and won with Rod’s recruits and then got worse every year, while Rod was on the cusp of that. Didn’t Hoke run the same offense for a year or two even?

Rod recruits for the spread, which required a completely different team build than what he had. He was a terrible fit up there given there is zero patience to build. Totally agree that his defenses are not good. He loves the 3-3-5 and refuses to change when it’s getting mauled by a team that has the ability to exploit it.

Believe that every WVU fan watched those games to watch him and Beilein fail. I’ll never forgive Michigan for basically pushing us to Dana after Stew (rip).

Also; it was my understanding that Hoke was hated by his players and the admin. That wrong?

 

If you have money, can live in an armed guard gated community, have a secured SUV with driver and a police escort then SC might be tolerable.

I could never live in an area where law abiding citizens aren't trusted to own and possess firearms.

 

He was always "on the cusp" but it never came to fruition. 3 horrible to mediocre seasons is not the standard at Michigan. Again, his offense was decent but his defenses were horrible. His offenses weren't great, but they were decent. The best things coming from the Rich Rod era were Denard Robinson and Devin Gardner who didn't amount to anything beyond college. Denard was a horrible QB but only came to Michigan because Rich Rod was the only coach who was going to allow him to play QB. Needless to say, he was exciting to watch but I wasn't a fan of his at QB.

Brady Hoke, on the other hand, came in and changed up the entire scheme and was very successful in year one but got steadily worse. I don't think he was disliked until he sealed his fate against OSU by forcing a QB with obvious concussion symptoms to remain in the game despite him asking to come out. Michigan had to change Athletic Directors as well due to other issues with sports as a whole.

Amazon did a special on Harbaugh's first season and the work he had to do over the summer. They basically highlighted that Hoke had turned the football team into a "country club" type atmosphere. You didn't have to work that hard because you were on the Michigan football team and the name itself was all that mattered. You could tell on the field as well and the results spoke for themselves.

Injury report out on Alabama isn't good as they face the best team in the country. Down to our #4 RB, #5 and #6 are a converted LB and WR, both played RB in high school but damn. WR/RB has track speed so hopefully they can get the ball to him in space.

O Line has struggled all year so the QB will likely have to throw on the run.

Defense is bi-polar

We do have an awesome FG kicker.

Only hope is for the defense to hold GA to low scoring game and the offense gets lucky with a few big plays.

 

Forgot this game was this weekend. I’m hoping it’s good, but UGA looks dominant this year.
