What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Hell yea.. only one more day till it's "crazy ass posts" day (Friday).

 

I refinished my DIY tailgate panel. First pic is after 9 months of use and was covered with stain and spray on polyurethane. Pic. 2 is refinished with a stain that has polyurethane in it already. We'll see how it lasts with this finish. You can see how I built it on my Youtube channel - Traveling by Tacoma. Stay safe out there.

This is less exciting but I've seen a lot of folks complain about leaking Upper Brake Light and there's now a Recall for them. They'll replace the light gasket with this big honker.

I also had my drive belt replaced at 25,000 miles today because of a known "chirp noise." Unfortunately I was out of warranty, so I had to pay for that. But only $100, so not bad considering the monster belt is $60 from the cheap OEM parts websites, and it was already in for the light. So I guess my time is wroth $40, lol. It's the inspection fee that kills me though. But when it comes to noises on the belt line, there's no fewer than 10 possible culprits so it's worth it for them to make sure it's not a water pump I guess.

So my new headlights arrived from the post office today. Unfortunately, the left has a broken mounting tab and both appear to broken on the top. Can anyone confirm? They're sending a return shipping label for these and 2 new replacements.

 

That sucks. Hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction.

OEM battery bit the dust yesterday. Replaced it today with a Diehard Platinum 24F Group. Was going to get the Diehard AGM but it only carries a 3 year warranty where the Diehard Platinum carries a 4 year warranty.

 

Looky looky what Amazon just brought. Wasn't supposed to arrive until Monday but here it is.

 

Life at an auto shop is probably all about avoiding unnecessary liability.
