    Hello Everyone,

I have a question about paint jobs on 3rd Gen Tacoma's. I have a blazing blue pearl tacoma, I was thinking about switching it up to the Calvary blue. Is this possible? Has anyone done this before? I love the blue, but the Calvary blue is calling my name. Thanks for anyone feedback!

    Possible

I would think a paint shop would charge a few grand or could wrap it?

To give an example, I'm getting a hood repainted and it's almost $1300.

But yes, Cav Blue is best blue.

I’d be shocked if you paid less than $5,000 for a paint job equivalent to OEM without doing a complete color change and likely closer to $10,000 if you wanted a complete color change based on everything I’ve read over the last few years unless you’ve got a body shop hookup.

I think wrap is the way to go if you’re dead set on keeping your particular vehicle. If not, sell it and get a Cav blue one.

Yeah, this is probably more accurate.

My thoughts on cost is a few decades old, so really outdated.

If you are going to repaint it, might as well go with Porsche Smurf Blue !!!

No, it is impossible to repaint a vehicle. It's never been done

The thing with the current blue, is you can really see the pinstripes and other scratches. I already need to trade it in and get a 4x4. When I bought the truck, it was such a good deal that I didn't care if it was 2wd or 4wd. Now I do haha. First world programs.

I am in Canada so of course funds are in Canadian peso's, but I was quoted $11,000-$15,000 CAD to repaint my Nissan Titan about 5 years ago. This was no bodywork and no color change. I would surmise that prices have gone up since as well. I am sure it will be much cheaper in the states but you'll be better off just having someone wrap the truck.

Big $$$$$ for a complete paint job.

Basically, the vehicle is stripped down to the body. Dents, dings.....body is repaired. Sanded, Prime, sand, prime........color, sand, color, sand.....clear, sand, clear, sand.......reassembly......

Boat load of labor and expensive materials.

    Not worth it.

Blazing Blue Pearl is phenomenal, and not made anymore.

Correct. It is the labor that gets you. My father in law owns a body shop and custom painted his F250. Retail value for insurance purposes was $18k but his cost was materials and supplies for $4k.

It doesn't cost that much esp if there is not a lot of body work to be done. Hence, what was submitted to insurance...… But that is a beautiful color
