I noticed today while going down a gravel washboard road that my tire will shake and the best way that I can describe it is a side to side movement, like a fish swimming. It’s enough for me to notice but maybe this is just normal off road movements I’m not sure I don’t regularly stick my head out to look at the front wheels as I drive.

To get some things out there, I don’t have any steering wheel shakes that would be considered worse than it normally is off-road. Inner/outer tie rods, LCA,UCA struts coils, hub assemblies are all less than a year old. Although the LCA and the tie rods are questionable as I got them from orileys they are their import direct brand.

other than the tie rods LCA possibly being junk, although they look great and were stiff when installed. Maybe alignment has something to do with this, last time I had it done everything was dead on castor was 2.8 pass and 2.4 driver I believe. UCA are dobinsons

Could be normal  but maybe some Tacoma wizard can give some knowledge here

Gravel washboard roads can make any vehicle feel like it's "floating" or moving left/right/laterally depending on the speed you are driving. That's normal and probably nothing wrong with your setup if it doesn't also behave the same way on flat paved roads.

Best way to "fix" it is to change your speed. Go really slow like 5mph, or go faster like 30-40mph. Or spend $$$$$ on super fancy baja race style suspension just so it doesn't feel weird to you.

I understand what you’re saying but it’s not so much a feeling in the steering wheel as I can see what seems to be excessive movement at the tire as I look at it when I drive

Put it on a set of Jack stands and see if there is play/movement from side to side. Could be a wheel bearing, tie rods, ball joint....
Rotate the wheel, pull, tug and push until you are satisfied that there is or isn't a problem.

    Have chec
I have checked nothing funny going on in terms of play from what I can tell, everything up front is less than a year old

I’m thinking maybe the orileys LCA bushings are too squishy? Or bsck to maybe this could be an alignment issue

The ifs front suspension just wobbles, especially if it is in 2wd.

I would check the lower control arm bushings for play.

You're going to have a bit of left and right deflection on bumpy roads. Especially the faster you go. Literally almost everything in the front suspension is rubber mounted to create road comfort and so you dont "feel" every bump and crack in the road. Things like the lower and upper control arms are supposed to have some left/right up/down give as the suspension moves and you go over bumps.

I honestly think what you are seeing is normal.

If you checked everything off the ground and all is tight and I believe you is about a year old. It’s just the washboard road. If you had a bad component you’d feel it on the highway too.
