That picture is actually from Aug 2011 - so yeah over 10 years old.

That's why I don't even clear snow if I don't have to. Was looking forward to wife not being here Jan/Feb in regards to snow clearing, I would just yee haw the truck through while she was out on internship but she got hers in Providence instead of down south.

There's no less work than not doing it! If we had a bigger driveway I would consider it.

    Rainbow color, 4 gauge.

16/18/20 can probably use whatever you have lying around. Color doesn't matter - most colors assigned are for manufacturability and ease of troubleshooting in the future "Oh this green wire with a stripe should be hot right now but it's not", not "wire 1 should be hot right now, WTF they're all red, which one is wire 1". So - as far as color, use whatever. The color is an indicator for you, not much more.

From the pictures in that thread it looks like a mix of 18 and 20, I would stick to that if you can - 22 might be a bit small, but hell if I know.

I have a plow for the ATV that works pretty well for the small storms.

At least your driveway is plenty wide enough. Mine is exactly the width of the garage door - 16 ft. It would be a lot better if they had done even a foot more on either side. 16 is pretty tight to have two vehicles side by side.

Yes it fits two cars side by side pretty well. Down side is neither of ours fits easily in the garage. Truck just doesn't. Hers is possible but a tiiiiiight squeeze. Would only do it when it's snowing so - only a few times a year. So we dont use the garage for cars. That's one thing I'd like to move into is a house with a big ass garage and a tiny house. Basically a barn setup.

What are the dimensions? It looks like probably the smallest I have seen, but I am not sure if that picture is deceptive.

Mine is 24x24, but it has a single front 16 ft door which is a pain. We just barley fit my F150 and her CX-5. I have four feet to the left and right of the door which isn't really usable for parking so I have work benches and tool chests on one side. The other side has steps and a chimney in the way. In the summer it's easier since I don't park inside.

The security camera doesn't fully show how tight it is with two vehicles, but it gives an idea.

My wife had that identical CX-5, same color and everything. We really liked it, at least until I put it on two wheels and hit a telephone pole :frusty:

This one has 80k on it and is going strong. I'm glad she went with it instead of something totally boring like a CR-V.

I have two snowblowers, one for the paved part of the driveway (Ariens 36 SHO) and one for the unpaved part and to cut a path in the grass for the oil/propane guys (John Deere TRS125)... with about 10 inches of snow it takes me about 3ish hours to do my driveways with both blowers...

I had an early 80s hand me down Ariens st824 that was dead nuts reliable then a family friend gifted us a 2 yo ariens compact 24 when they moved to a 55+. So I paid it forward to a former coworker and passed along the 80s 824. I’ve broken more shear pins in the new compact one in 2 years than I have ever in my 25+ years of snowblowing. Ready to upgrade to the deluxe or platinum 30 or just get the blower attachment for the Deere.

Better to break the pins - that's their purpose!

This snowblower talk reminded me to start my Toro two-stage. It started great. When I moved the choke selector to run, gas started dripping from the engine. Shut it down and it kept dripping. It stopped when I closed the fuel line valve. I have a local guy that’s great with gasoline powered equipment. I’ll have him square it away.
I would love to have a powerful, all electric blower, but I don’t think there is such a thing.
My house is in a wide road and the pile of snow at the end of my driveway, after the road is plowed can be very deep and chunky. My Toro eats that junk right up.

Electric snowblower like that, not feasible currently...
A 10hp electric motor running at 240v single phase, is 50amps. That in an EXPENSIVE extension cord. I made one for my welder..

    It is heavy for sure.

When we did the new service a few years back, it was spec'd for 100amp subpanel for the 2nd and 3rd(really just big walk-up)
And room for at least one more subpanel while bringing the house up to code.
Expensive, and worth it. Almost done with all the electrical now.
The cord, I opted to tie into a disconnect, and hand it below. But, until I can get a barn, or shop, etc... it is what it is... and if I move home, that cord is coming with!

I have maybe 6 ft of 6/3 wire for a 50 amp outlet near the subpanel in the garage and even that was expensive! I don't even use it right now but figured it's good to have in case I buy something that needs it.

I'd rather buy a snowblower in that case. Pondered it with my garden tractor and came up with: The snowblower I bought is $800-850 brandy new. Finding a snowblower attachment for my tractor would be about the price you listed, IF I can find one for mine..plus I'm putting more wear on my tractor that I use a lot more often than a snowblower for several things.

Bear in mind my tractor is a 20-25 year old Murray though. Part is the "IF I can find one" for it, plus mine is the hydrostatic trans which I know can't take a lot of heavy use. If I break the tractor I could get by without it in the summer, but I dethatch and aerate my yard in the spring..and leaf cleanup in the fall is a nightmare without it.

Bulking season has begun. Initial run with the new pizza oven. Went from a propane powered pizza que to this charcoal/ wood fired ooni. It's pretty baller, and definitely imparts some good wood fired taste. And God damn it's fast. The pizza que would take 8-12 minutes depending on ambient temp, wind etc... it was 40s here and windy(I did make a ghetto windbreak put of 2 patio chairs turned sideways) but pizzas took max 90 seconds. And that's turning them every 10-15 seconds. I actually lit the first one on fire....20211203_202725.jpg

In 2015 with my old Craftsman I turned the gearbox into discs without touching a shear pin.

I don’t know how my Ariens is doing, but it’s a beast. With all the kids’ toys I need a shed to hold it in the summer.
