And here I keep day dreaming about buying acreage or lake front property with more elbow room between the houses. :playball:

I have zero desire to ever live in a place like that after growing up in one. So I bought a place with no HOA, half acre lots, and no screaming kids nearby.

Thanks - it's the wife's work, I just hold the pieces up for her per her design and wishes.
Going to finish up some doors on the bottom to hold 'stuff'... there is a second-half of this
project ( not shown ) to the right, where we'll have a sink and 3-burner gas-thing... and
    drawers and doors etc...

Outdoor living... say YES to the outdoors 'eh ...

Found a guy on FB selling entire 250' rolls of 14-2 Romex for $80/roll. About $40 cheaper then Lowes around here. Guess Ill be spending a portion of the weekend in the attic again.

When I was working on my patio, I drew everything up in AutoCAD to show my wife. She couldn't have cared less and told me to do whatever I wanted.

It should cover all of my upcoming projects too. Got tired of paying over a $1.00/ft by buying the small 25 ft packs.

Your patio scene looks to die for. There's a lot of good stuff in this thread I look forward to watching it.

My wife is an ex-jet-aircraft mechanic, she does electrical, plumbing, wood working, etc and can run circles around most people
in these fields. She holds 3 ( or is it 4..? ) Master's degrees in various disciplines and has a high-end position at a major
University. She talked me into the Tacoma because she wanted an easier way to haul lumber and the Kayaks... LOL... should
have listened to her last year I woulda got a better deal LOL...

It's kinda in reverse at my house - the wife designs all the 'builds' and I just say sure honey yea let's do it because I know in
the end it will turn out great. The place we left 5 years ago we had just finished up a 12x32 foot deck and installation of
    bamboo hardwood floors...

My patio is incredibly simple - just 4x4s, 5/4 deck boards and 2x6s but it made the patio 15 degrees cooler because there was no shade.
That is awesome, man. Nothing wrong with having a handy wife. :fistbump:

I have an Associate's Degree and my wife has her Doctorate and earns about triple what I do. She says she keeps me around because she doesn't know how to run or fix anything in the house.

20211204_084317.jpg 20211204_084237.jpg Propane fireplace. Actually by some miracle, it works and looks pretty good. Does not consume copious quantities but we have a nice NEW full house HVAC, so only use it for special occasions.

Here are my question details: Externally only a simple switch (generic light switch in a double gang box) - for ON/OFF via millivolt copper wire. I wish to add a millivolt T-stat. Done this before at two other houses (NG) - easy. But here is the hassle. The double box. Next to the ON/OFF switch is the switch for lighting over the fireplace.

Q: How to put a low cost millivolt T-stat in one half of a double box?

    ??

Probably my question wasn't clear. Not sure why I would add another box.

The t-stats are usually surface mount with just a hole in the drywall for the low voltage wire.

Now I could - and maybe will - keep the "manual" switch and just mount the T stat above the switch plate and run the wire up there and back. That would give us a hard positive OFF.

I was mainly asking if I could mount the T-stat NEXT to the existing light switch - not sure I have seen such a thing. (???)
