What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Installed my bed stiffeners today, the allpro ones are beefy! Also in the process I broke the mounting tabs for my tail lights.... looking to upgrade to the 12-15 led ones.

 

I keep wondering if I should do this because I can see the taller gaps at the top on the edge of my tailgate, but 1) I'm a cheapskate and 2) I keep thinking that stuff will get hung up on it when I'm sliding things in and out of my bed.

What brand are those? They look good. My headlights are starting to show their age and now I have to look at my options

 

Picked it up from Milogen Fab and Auto Innovations in Milpitas, CA. Got BAMF HD shackle hangers and shackles, ECGS bushing, Total Chaos gusseted spindles, 886s (replacing 885s), and SPC UCAs installed, the sway bar deleted, and a solid alignment. Front end's riding slightly higher than it was before I installed my plate bumper a few weeks back.

 

Added a Tyger tonneau cover.

 

Did the unifilter mod on my (new to me) ‘14 DCLB Prerunner. This thing has 120k on it and the filter looks like this. Has anyone gone to do this mod and found their filter seriously degraded?

 

When it does go you’re fucked. You could just replace the foam every 100k and hope you never get old stock but the mod replaces it with a filter that can’t wreck the more expensive parts downstream.

 

what made you pick BAMF hangers instead of Archive hammer hangers?

 

I'm in the same boat that you are and I've been looking at a bunch of different styles. Just not sure what I want yet.

 

Did the mod a year ago and am happy with it. The OEM filter was found to be in the proper place but I only had 30K on the truck.

 

BAMF is local to me, and the price (especially the discounted sale price) is right.

 

Attempted to install the Hi-Lift brackets to the passenger side rail in my bed. The nut that you insert into the rail won't go in because it's hitting the screw that holds the rail on. I went to remove the screw and none of them will budge.
WTF

 

I bought my truck with 120,000 on it and the original filter was still there and not deteriorated. Did the filter mod a couple months after buying the truck.

 

Seems everyone has only complaints about everything except OEM

 

Either (1) have someone with a milling machine mill off some of the nut thickness or (2) put the nut in a vice and shorten the thickness with a grinder or sander. I can't imagine it needs to be much thinner to work.

 

Can you squirt penetrating oil on the rivnuts inside the bed walls?

 

I'll try that and I also have an impact driver.

 

There’s still over 48” between them after install but you do have to avoid hanging up on them. Having seen the materials/construction behind the tail lights any stiffeners you get will be an improvement. It’s all just thin tin in there with the thickest metal being the actual sides of the opening that your stiffeners bolt to. There’s a thin gusset from there that meets the outside shape of the tail lights/bed wall and extends down a few inches but that’s all.

 

I would rather make those nuts thinner, or order some T-nuts that fit the rail, or if you have a welder, or a friend with one, you can make something like this
