Good afternoon folks! Found an AWD FJ case in San Antonio for a fair price at Lalo’s auto parts. Went and picked it up this morning. I’m mid swap right now so I can test it out and use my 30 day warranty if needed. Everything seems to function as the case coming out did, so I’m gonna change the oil and cross my fingers.

Also they didn’t have a shifter on the case when I got there, but they took me out to the donor vehicle and it was still in there so all I need is four bolts and a spring retainer. The new case going in the v6 has 120k on it. I’m gonna leave that one in there and use the one that came out of it in my 2.7L.

Why the need to swap them? I would think you would not want an AWD in your truck...

They’re both the same case and since this truck is already set up for it I figured I would test it out and make sure all is well while it’s still under warranty.

I have heard some say that AWD wouldn’t be good in a truck, but after having mine swapped for 6 months or so, I wouldn’t have it any other way, I really love it. The truck feels much more controlled. Since tacos are so light in the bed, it really makes for a SUV-like driving experience once it’s AWD. Mpgs will likely dip a little, but I think it’ll be worth it. Tire wear will be much improved as well

All that seems to make sense. However, I would argue that tire wear would decrease quite a bit on the front.

Doesn't come with a drive axle, but it's mobile!

Yeah, guess I'll get a battery next trip....

Boy, I want this other stuff out of my garage! It's moving after Christmas, one way or another. Made up my mind!

The LX is AWD taken a few places never had to use lower gears or even lock the transfer case. The handling during wet conditions is where that AWD system shines.

Just got new tires on the LX, with 5 tire rotation, I got 61k miles out of them, they were rated for 55k, bought LTX version this time, better than the Touring HP'S.
The new ones have 70k warranty.

Nice, there are break in periods on those, then change oil, might want consider that prior to putting under loads in case it arises.

One thing a week! It'll probably have some test runs in the driveway, because the back isn't ready. Today, I'm happy I can move it!

It very well might! I havent driven the truck much to really see the long term effects of it, but it will be interesting to see that once the daily driver is swapped too.

Yeah it's surprisingly capable, even unlocked. And I really love the wet weather handling as well. Makes you feel much safer when you are forced to drive in the crappy weather.
    Michelins are the best!

    Ok short version...
Bad/weak genes in that buck, can't eat the antlers though.. but it's part of deer management, you don't want bucks like that breeding, he should have been an eight point vs the six point he was. Do you want professional athletes as offspring or nerds?

I'll skip the second part, but I did not know that the points were a determining factor. I thought those came with age.

No idea. Probably knew once, looks familiar. Don't hunt, have no problem with it, understand wildlife management needs in a general sense
