I dropped it back down to option 2... back is sore now. How much additional weight do you have on your truck with the RTT and shell? I was running on a mostly empty bed with option 3 for little jaunts around town. I should've thrown the motorcycle on the hitch hauler and stuck the gopro under there. I did think about what that carrier bearing looks like when going over washboarded roads... probably looks crazy.

The RTT I have is 165lbs plus prinsu rack is about 50. The cap is around 200-250. Plus a Thule T2 bike rack lives on the hitch which weighs about 50. Oh and a platform build in the bed I would guess another 50 easy. This is day to day driving at this weight of 500-550 lbs. When that tent comes off though and I lose 165 pounds that is where I feel vibes at again pretty good

Thanks for the information. Your day to day weight is about what my weight is when I head out for my trips, most of it is the motorcycle and carrier which is about 400lbs on the hitch. I figured that since the bike and carrier will come off of the truck when i get to my destination that option 2 should be good enough for me. quick drive around the block and the shudder was pretty much gone but a video will confirm it for me. it's now on option 2 with the OME carrier bearing drop.

So your last video was option 3? Ya I figured going down would help. When I had a half inch block and the Icon AAL I never had the shutter. As soon as I went RXT option 3 it started. I never had a drop on my carrier bearing either. Option 2 is plenty for what you're doing. I add another 200 lbs to the rear easy when I head out. Or I am towing a small 15 ft trailer with no tent on the roof. Last trip was 14 gallons of water added to the bed, propane, bbq, shower, tool box, few other things, I am thinking at least 300lbs and I sagged maybe an inch or so. Rode extremely comfortable though and soft.

Yeah the last video was option 3. With the bike on the carrier it sat level because it really puts all the weight just on the rear wheel since it's so far out back on the hitch but since it comes off at the campsite or wherever I should be good with Option 2 even if I sag a little on the way out there.

I am on Option 1 with about 200lb over stock in the bed, but was feeling vibes. I used 3/8in shims, I believe.

Otherwise, I have 5100s front and 5125s rear. The RXTs gave me 1.5in over stock, so I matched that in front.

It’s posts like this that have me so undecided on if I should go with option 1 or 2.

I run a fiberglass topper and some tools/gear full time. Easily 250-300# over stock. Per Icons chart that would put me at option 2.

My current suspension is 2nd gen pro Bilstein kit with 3 leaf AAL plus the factory OL leaf. It’s basically Tacoma tuned/non-adjustable 6112s and 5160s. It’s netted me 1+” lift up from and 1.5-2” out back. I love the rack, and the ride feel is ideal.

The hang up I have is two fold, maintain my current rack and current rude feel. I’m concerned that option 1 might not be enough beef for the constant load I run, but option 2 might be too firm of a ride and/or may have me stink bugging with too much lift out back.

    Thought? Too much verbal vomit?

    Nah! Good info.

From all reports that I have seen, the RXTs ride great at all settings. In fact, mine feel great when I take the load off (Softopper, bed mat, and recovery gear). That was not the case on the stock leafs.

With all of the thin leafs, I'd really call these self-tuneable baby Deavers.

IMHO, I'd go for Option 2.

Yea my gut, and a very knowledgeable close friend, also are leaning towards Option 2 for me.

Guess part of me is not wanting to break down the pack from its factory configuration and risk premature squeaking.

All the OEM/aftermarket leaf packs I’ve run have been squeak free, until I broke them apart to put in an AAL of some kind. The set on my ‘17 were silent up until the addition of the AAL. Now the truck squeaks when I look at it.

My pack didn't have much lube to begin with. I'd break it apart and lube it up regardless.

I had option 2 and 3 with an empty bed and I thought the ride was smoother than stock on both settings.

Not professional advice but I slathered a thin layer of general purpose bearing grease on the leaves, the little metal plates, and on the rubber bushings. I haven't noticed any squeaks and I've done some dusty off roading with it.

Currently sitting on option 2, and I attached the E-brake line to the leaf pack. But it appears the metal clip holding it in place is starting to wear into the line. What have you all done as a solution to this?

I used channel locks to clock the clip for alignment. It will bend in any direction that you need.

My right side frame clip didn't need to be tweaked at all, but the left side one needed some bending to keep the brake line from rubbing the body mount bolt. I need to trim those shorter.

I don't have rtx leafs, but my bracket attaches at the same location. Tweaking the bracket helps, but I still wrapped my brake lines in wire harness loom and aluminum tape.

Trying to decide between option 2 and option 3.

I currently have a leer camper shell, wood sleeping and storage platform loaded with gear and a Jack.

I imagine I’m about 400 pounds right now. Option 2 would work. But I did plan on adding a steel bumper with a swing out(spare tire) in about six months(190lbs).
