PowerTrax No-Slip Part Number

Hey guys...long time reader, but first time poster. I've searched all over to try and confirm this, but haven't been able to find a solid answer. Anyone know if the PowerTrax No-Slip (part number 92-2080-3002) will fit in a non TRD 2nd gen? According to the Richmond site it only fits 1st gens, but as far as I can tell 1st gens have the same 8.4" 30 Spline rear axle as the 2nd gens.

On a side note, anyone know how the No-Slip would compare to a Detroit Truetrac LSD in snow driving? I'm torn between the two right now and would go ARB, but it's too expensive. I live in northern Ontario so we get our fair share of snow.

The part no 92-2080-3002 is also for the non elocker 2nd gens as well. I don't know which would be better for snow use. I think you're going to get more positive lock up with the powertrax no slip, but I know some people don't like them for snow/ice conditions. Another member, drew02a did a review of the powertrax, I just can't seem to find it right now.

 

I have no idea about the part numbers, but where in Northern Ontario are you located?

 

Thanks for the welcome and confirmation! I've read mixed reviews on both LSDs and lockers in the snow. Some say lockers are more predictable...others say they're terrible. Hard to tell which to go by....

Same city as you it would seem...Thunder Bay. Nice truck by the way! Ever drive around in the snow with that rear ARB engaged?

 

No way man that's awesome, there's like 5 or 6 people from tbay on here, is yours the reg. Cab with the All-Pro front bumper IIRC

Oh I guess so....it's Dark Green or whatever toyota calls that colour, what colour is yours? (Current state, mods etc)

 

silver and only mod is a leer cap so far...

 

Nice colour choice! lol...and well since your a prerunner some spindles are a definite yes!

 

Here is a thread all about the no-slip. I personally like my no-slip. Driving in snow is just a matter of getting used to it. I'm not convinced a LSD would be that much better.
