Got bored a couple weeks ago and wanted a bit of change for the truck, so I played around with some different colors of paint and decided on a different wheel color....

So no more of my custom mixed cans of ghetto gold...

I just think it’s cute you played matchy matchy with the tent. It’s a nice color combination though

Tried to... but that color came out looking like "baby sh!t brown" and was honestly offending how horrible it looked! Ha!

The shiny foil backed stuff is an alternate brand for dynamat... so it is just the butyl rubber sound deadening mat. The dull gray looking material that is over the top of that is actual foam sound insulation material. The sound deadening cuts down on rattles and other noises and the foam insulation helps absorb what noises still exist.

Long story short. Yes, this is just the two step process for cutting down noise in the cabin.

Cool, looks like it turned out good. This has been on my project list for a while.

Do you think it's worth it? Is there a noticeable difference?

Totally worth all the work though, I just did mine last summer and wish I had sooner, like the hammer hangers...

Just like he said below... it is DEFINITELY worth the time, effort and cost. Plus gives you a great chance to give your carpet a deep cleaning.

I have a very noisy truck with the headers, homemade exhaust and mud tires. Not to mention the wind noise from the roof rack and snorkel. So this makes the 8+ hr drives it takes to get to nice wheeling parks much more bearable.

My carpet was honestly disgusting, I knew it was kinda dirty hidden under the Husky mats but after getting it completely out and seeing the few spots that have always been covered since it rolled off the factory and that the jute on the backside still had moisture trapped between the vapor barrier I was...

    :puke:

So glad I wasn't planning on keeping it anyway and went to the all weather flooring, the humidity in the cab dropped considerably after getting rid of the carpet.

I at one point decided to confirm the hypothesis that trucks don't swim well via the scientific method of fuck about and find out.

About the :40 second mark, had a whole day of that and got stuck in a swamp buggy hole roughly up to the indent in the doors for about 3 minutes before getting snatched out.

I just had to justify the snorkel purchase so I wouldn't be a poser.

My drivers carpet was soaked and I had about 2" of standing water in my passenger side floor, pulled the plugs on the trail and still shop vac'ed 5 gallons out of the carpet when I got home, I pulled the door sill trim propped the carpet up with the doors open and left blower fans cross blowing for two days got 4 damp rid buckets one for each floor area and still had to drive around and park with the windows down for a month.

    Yes poor truck.

She doesn't go swimming anymore but at least it was fresh water.

All better now no more absorbent carpet or jute in the cab.

Actually didn't have any smell thankfully, my biggest concern was mold but fortunately never had that either.
