So I just got my manual 2022 trd or and LOVE it, but for shits and giggles I put the info into vroom and they offered me 47k. I paid 39,450 (with trade in tax savings) and actually would have paid sub 42,000 even if I had full tax fees. That’s a 5k profit if I sell. I don’t want to but there must be a way to make some good money flipping these from dealers. Put in orders at a few dealers and wait 3 months? Any ideas???

Just create some fake identities and buy / sell about 4-5 a month. Get friends n family in on it too. Ponzi scheme it

Yessir and I know someone who works for JM Lexus so got it for an extra 500 off as well. And the dealer upped my trade from 20,400 to 21,100 (2019 civic I had 40k miles on and paid 20,750 OTD with tax and tag 2 years ago)

    also had tech package

    A bunch..and no build thread!
I can sell my 2021 TRD OR to Carvana or Vroom for more than I paid for it (a few months ago) right now.

It was actually one of the first things I looked at when I took delivery of the truck.

I wondered this when looking at the value of my trade in too. When I went to actually trade it in they offered me 24. Online had offered me 26, I told them 29 since when they pulled up the KBB (because I acted clueless) they said 31. They came back and said, yea the KBB is a little high then that's when I told them I was offered 29 as a trade in online. After some talk of toyota things from them trying to change the subject, we ended up back on the trade in value and I said if I couldn't get 29 that I'd trade it in online. They gave me 29.5, lol. Because they will turn around and make at least 31-33 for it.

    Why??

The question is "do you need a car now, or do you want to wait 6 months to a year". Because they won't tell someone they can have a vehicle shipped there in a matter of weeks, they just have to make compromises. They want to make a fast profit. So flipping used vehicles for over market value to them is a dream and they will easily pay you a premium for it because even though their gain on the flip is still minimal, it's higher than it used to be. That's all that matters to them.

So go, play stupid like you don't know what it's worth, make them pull up a blue book value that is outrageously high (and they will, every time), then counter their low ball offer with 2 grand above what your actual trade in value online was. Don't show them shit. They don't need to see the actual offer. They already know somewhere it's true. Now they are fighting to gain that small quick profit. Any "good" dealer will grab it. I say "good" because they are stealerships and that's what they do... everything is marked up and if this alone gets you positive equity plus some cash down then it's about damn time.

I actually owed 24 on my trade in, paid 27 for it. They gave me 29.5! I took all of that an put it right back down on the Tacoma, plus another $8k (I was planning on 10) and even after almost $8k of accessories I still have positive equity in the truck I just drove off the lot with. That's what it's all about. Truly.

If you wanted to wait 6 months and trade it up again, you'd be looking at such a negligible increase in monthly payments, you'd almost be stupid not to.

In my recent experience two weeks ago I negotiated to trade in my 18 Limited to the dealer I bought from a year ago. I paid $38k. I had a carvanna offer for 37,9 and kbb was at 36-39. I was looking to buy a 22 4Runner military green limited. It had been sitting on their lot over a month I suspect because the color looks odd with limited trim. They offered me $30k for my trade and I refused to even counter offer. “Come back to me with a real number”. They came back with $36k and MSRP plus 2k markup on the runner. I said $38 for line and MSRP for theirs. They took $500
Off theirs and wouldn’t budge on mine. They let me walk, and called me back a few days later and offered another $500 off their car and would not move on mine. I’m suprised they won’t move on mine. It’s very clean, clean car fax and 45k for mileage. I’ve since decided to stick with my truck since I have a very small loan on it. I had a KD Maxx tune done today and it feels like a whole new truck. I’m relieved to have walked away from my new car itch without a bigger car loan.

Probably too good to be true. If it was that easy to flip and make 5 grand, wouldn't Vroom just buy trucks for 39k and flip them?

Something must be up. My carmax offer after 4 months and a few thousand miles is up over $7k.

Their offer is $39,400 for my rig with 37k miles on it. That is $3k more than i paid for it in January 2020.

    I think I am doing it. I really want a GX 460.
