Lol, as an Iowa alum, I’ve seen every iowa game the last 15 years. Michigans inability to get a sustained drive is unworthy of a playoff team. Iowa’s offense is pathetic, so I don’t credit Michigan’s defense with much. Georgia would be up 28-0 against iowa, minimum. And I’m an iowa fan

 

Georgia couldn’t find the football of offense for most of the night against an Alabama team that struggled mightily against LSU and AUB. I’m not sure Georgia can win a game against a top-5 team now based on what I saw tonight.

 

I’d argue we don’t know what a top 5 team is

 

I know if I have to watch Saban own another one of his coordinators again, I’ll just not watch. Absolute snooze fest.

I guess it’s good my team always sucks anymore. Less despair.

Not so sure. Iowa's D is actually rated pretty similar to Michigan's in a lot of categories. Michigan plays pretty soft on passes, to the point where I'm not sure why their pass D is one of the highest rated in the country, but it is. Pass rush makes a big difference I guess. Also, keep in mind Iowa was #2 at one point this season.

 

Alabama has played like a championship team at times during the year but never consistently. They put together a 4 quarter game today and now have a month to heal a few injured players.

Hopefully they can put together 8 more solid quarters of play and repeat. After losing so many players last year and the injuries this year, I didn't think they would beat Georgia or make the playoffs.

I hope Georgia loses their semi, would rather Bama not play them again.

 

A lot of that is big 10 style of play. Not a lot of explosive offenses. Iowa may only allow 315 yards per game, but they average even fewer on offense. Running the ball more than 50% of the time to keep the possessions down so lack of talent doesn’t get exposed. It’s been same strategy for 20 years. Usually the teams with athletes expose them.

 

Good lord. I’ve never seen so many wide open receivers. There were 8-10 times a receiver didn’t have anyone within 10 yards of him when he caught the ball. I don’t understand. Busted assignments? We haven’t seen that all year. They’ve been the most disciplined, play your position defense I’ve ever watched. Yet there was chunk play after chunk play.
Bama’s o line was 112 nationally in sacks allowed. But we couldn’t get to the QB. Young was rarely pressured at all. When we did get pressure on him, he was inaccurate or just threw it into the ground. The problem was we couldn’t get pressure.


I just don’t understand. I also wouldn’t blame the committee if they leave us out.

 

Rumors swirling that UGA DC Dan Lanning will be named OU’s head coach tomorrow.

 

Georgia's in for sure and will be a tougher opponent after this loss.

 

Will it be Bama or Michigan #1 is where it’s interesting. If Michigan do they put Georgia 4 to avoid Bama v Georgia in the semi final maybe.

I guess so. Probably told the team the same thing at half. They shoved it right down their throat on a couple 2nd half drives

 

Been waiting a long time for this!

 

I was just about to post on this possibility. There will be a call for a GA Bama rematch in the semi to ensure an all SEC title game doesn't happen.

Harbaugh is finally winning big games and has a shot with the way they are playing, don't underestimate that team.

 

I'm gonna have to update this. Michigan has played better overall ball this season improving as the season went on. Bama is streaky and Georgia did Georgia. Cin gets in because they deserve it over the outsiders to say the system isn't totally rigged.

This should have been the game of the week. Both teams with great coaching, somewhat equally matched and both high powered teams, it was the simple mistakes that decided the game late. No dog in the fight, but looking forward to a rematch.

 

Interesting.. all I had seen was the Clemson DC, maybe he turned them down
