Why did many think GA's 99 was the best defensive player in college football, he can't even stay in the game for a complete series. Will Anderson on the other hand plays wide open almost every down, leads the nation in sacks and tackles for a loss. He'll also be back next year.

 

2 completely different players. And yes, guys that get to the QB are always more valuable and easier to appreciate than the big guys that stuff the run and eat up blockers

 

I'm in favor of an Alabama-Georgia semi-final matchup. I'd much rather see that than have a chance at them battling for the championship in the final.

Also hoping expansion comes soon. And before I hear any more whining about "you shouldn't lose 3-4 games and make the playoff," currently the first 3 loss team is in 17th and that's before today's updated standings come out. There are only 2 4-loss teams in the top 25 (23 and 25) and, again, that's before today's updated rankings come out.

 

Michigan fans don't want to play both Bama and Georgia to win the title, can't blame them.

Don't see a way around this since Alabama will likely be the #1 seed but think about the statement Michigan could make by beating both Bama and Georgia.

 

Would you do the 5 conference winners and 3 at large? Doesn’t look real attractive this year

 

If the committee truly looks at it fresh every week and looks at the full body of work, I think Cincinnati ends up 4th and Georgia 3rd. I think Bama/Michigan is a coin flip and they decide on the matchup they want. Maybe they really want to avoid an all sec final, having Michigan against Bama or Georgia is probably the best way to make sponsors happy. It is about money after all

 

A nose tackle and a linebacker. Apples and oranges. JD typically takes up 2-3 people trying to block him, leaving Nakobe dean and Nolan smith jr to feast in the backfield. I don’t think anyone said he was the “best” defensive player in the nation, but has an argument for the most valuable.

Pulling for Cincy and Michigan

 

Doesn’t matter if Michigan wins the semi

 

Shouldn’t be an option. Michigan should be 1 IMO, but why even have the option for that boring ass SECCG again? It’s not like UGA has stellar wins anymore (most teams are ranked just inside the 25) and got crushed by a legit top-5 in their biggest game of the year.

If ALA shows up like they for last night, UC is dusted. ALA looked unstoppable.

 

As a Bama fan I would prefer to play Michigan if Bama beats Cincinnati.

I like that match up better but Michigan will have to beat Georgia first, a pissed off Georgia.

Nothing would make me happier than to see a Bama/Georgia Natty and for us to break Bama’s heart for once

 

My thoughts on the Cincy Bama game.

Bama will stop the run and Cincinnati's Oline won't be able to protect their quarterback when he drops back. Quick out passes can be jumped and will be.

Bama's offense will be too much for Cincinnati's defense, Bama by 30.

Michigan vs Georgia.

Georgia will stop Michigan's ground game but Georgia's offense will struggle. Could go either way but Georgia is angry and motivated. Georgia by 7.

 

I could see Georgia making 2 fewer mistakes and that game looking a lot different. It all changes week to week. Nobody knows what win was actually good when it’s all over. Michigan over Ohio state was a good win because Ohio state trounced Michigan state who was only good because they beat Michigan. Could say the same for every team in every conference.

 

No. 1 Alabama will play No. 4 Cincinnati, and No. 2 Michigan will play No. 3 Georgia. The semifinals will kick off on Dec. 31 with the national championship game Jan. 10.

Gotta beat the best to be the best. But it's more that I'm not a fan of a potential single rematch for the national title, especially when there are only 4 teams in the playoff.

I'd actually expand beyond 8, although 8 is certainly better than 4. Again, it's about proving you're actually the best team and not just getting in based on the opinion of a committee. This system is much better than the BCS was, but still needs improvement.

It wouldn't matter if you did conference champions and several at-large bids or if you did straight top (insert number) teams. SEC fans are the main ones that don't want to see expansion since their teams are not basically guaranteed to be in the championship if expanded. Keep in mind that my team is in and I'm advocating for expansion even though, this season, it would basically mean 2-3 of my team's biggest rivals are in as well.
