Hmmm, 11.3 and 13.9 barrels came in yesterday, handguard came in today, I’m thinking that my 13.9 will replace my 11.5” because I like the extra handguard space and overall length will barely change once my resonator K is approved and I run that can instead of the Optimus.

I almost did the opposite, went from a 14.5 to an 11.5 upper with the same oss 5.56k can. The small loss in rail space wasn’t really noticed IMO.

I’ve burned myself a few times on the can by grabbing too far forward, maybe the extra rail space will stop it from happening.
I considered doing a recessed can but I don’t want to have to run the can all the time.

That hasn’t happened to me *yet* I did grab a burn proof gear suppressor wrap though and it’s been great.

Next one I wanna build is a 14.5” for a training rifle/flex build.

I like to have a vertical grip or a hand stop on my shorter builds. Especially when the rail gets close to the muzzle. Granted, can’t put a VG on pistols so if you don’t like it, hand stop becomes the only option. Always been worried about getting a burn, but also don’t have any rails that go over my fake cans currently. But those don’t usually get too hot.

Let me know when you're ready to get rid of that G19. I really want a G17, but a G19 will do! lol
