Finally installed my JFR #25 today as it was the perfect time since I swapped the trans mount to a solid off-road one as well. I was running a URD Y-pipe with my TRD exhaust so I installed the JFR with the vibrant resonator back to the TRD exhaust. I honestly did not expect much but after a quick drive I noticed it picked up RPM's quicker and shifted into 2nd gear quicker leaving from a light. After a quick stab on the go fun pedal I also noticed more pick up in the midrange didn't floor it as no point since I am old lol. Any way this truck has about every mod Minus intake spacer, Headers, and a real tune still running the URD maf cal going to take it out tomorrow and contact justDSM for a Real tune. Having built a few High Hp Ford NA 4v v8's I can honestly say this Pipe helps in scavenging it's obvious Roostfactor did his math! Would love one of these on my 5th gen 4runner!

 

Very good to hear. A hptune will really make it more enjoyable as well.

 

Also, if you get a set of EL URD long tubes, that and the tune would be optimal. That is how Justdsm runs his truck.

Looks like URD has a new equal length exhaust product for the 1GR-FE. Given the completely different tube path, I can't tell for sure how the pipe lengths compare to JFR pre-merge. The JFR certainly looks higher quality and I appreciate that it offers more flexibility to choose what comes after the merge.

One advantage of the new URD tube path is drastically better clearance for those of us wanting to run transmission skids. Many of those skids have structural ribbing reinforcement on the underside which would contact the JFR y-pipe or the standalone URD y-pipe. Even those that don't (CBI and C4 as examples) come within 0.25" of the URD y. I can only imagine the JFR is similar at that point.



Separate question for you @Roostfactor : I would love to buy your pipe, but feel like it's unrealistic for me to join the waitlist at this point and expect to receive one before you decide to cease production. (That's purely an inference based on some of your comments in this thread, and may be wrong. Not knocking you in any way for that. Your beautiful work takes lots of time and there are many other things competing for attention in your life.) If you ever did stop, it would be a terrible shame for your calculations and development work to be lost. Have you ever considered selling the plans or at the very least the calculated length that makes this pipe so special to a high-end exhaust shop? Or to individuals who could take that info to a shop in their area? Thanks!

This is on a T4R and looks way to long but hard to tell from just the pics.

I need to finish my next few builds at least before handing over the torch as a few people have deposits already in.

Nobody has come to me with an offer to take it over yet.
