Figured since I am never getting a PS5 without paying tons of money extra for one I would make my PS4 Pro as nice as I could. Replaced the HDD with and SSD as well as the thermal paste from the factory. The thing is super fast now and whisper quiet. It sounded like a jet taking off before, now I had to actually have it under the load of a game to get the fan to make any noise.

I borrowed my buddies PS4 to play God of War and holy shit it's the loudest fucking machine I've ever heard. I would have my home theater cranked and still could hear the jet engine, err, I mean PS4 trying to take off.

Yup, that us why I did this. Made such a huge difference. Not sure why Sony shipped them out with such shitty thermal compound. I also found 6 out of the handful of thermal pads that are there for cooling, not even remotely where they were supposed to be. I have never opened it or had anyone do it either from sony so they were like that out of the box.

Pulled the Golf into our Flagstaff garage for the first time today. Its so roomy for a 2 car. 24'6" deep and 22' wide. All the crap currently in there is leftover stuff we got for free in the purchase. Trash/recycling/lawn equipment etc. will go in a shed behind the fence outside once installed. I wanted to park it where it will eventually live to see how much usable room there is. Im so excited for all the garage hangs in the near future. As parked its 18 inches to the left of the centerline of the garage and there is still tons of room on the drivers side, enough to open the door completely which on these Golfs is nearly perpendicular to the car. In the rear its about 18 inches from the garage door, just enough to open the hatch and be able to rummage around behind/walk around the car. This leaves 9 feet from the front bumper to the front wall. More than enough room to have work benches/tool boxes/storage etc. Possibly even have a U shaped work space in front of the car. The other side has plenty of room for the SO's SUV or any other vehicle we might have in the future with plenty of room to get in/out, into and out of the house, hang some bicycles on the wall etc. Too bad the truck is too tall with the camper installed. It might be possible to cut in an 8 foot high garage door but I dont think its worth the cost/effort. Im so excited to get started on this project.

Yep, also the water heater needs to be replaced so we're going to go tankless, add a sink below with a hose hookup and add a heater above. Still trying to decide if/how to finish the flooring. The concrete is in great shape except for one stain in the center.

Honestly I would recommend doing the protective coating.

I wanted to do it since I moved in, but kept putting it off.
Now I have too much crap in the garage so I dont want to pull everything out to paint the floor.
I wish I had done it when I first moved in

If you’re doing all that, add a hose/Spigot system with a QD setup for a hose/pressure washer, you can then set it all up mounted to the wall, or a rack, and then just have the hose/wand part on a reel to go out of the garage with.

This exactly! Do your garage coating and or painting before you get tools, benches, storage racks, etc... My last 2 houses I waited and never got it done. Nice Golf.

@MR E30 I finally got that white disk you told me to get to clean off the block in the Z. How much presure and how fast should I have the drill going when I do get brave enough to actually do this?

What type of power washer is this, electric and you mount it on the wall? Ive never seen such a thing and Im intrigued. I have a wheeled gas power washer but thats not ideal for inside the garage.

The original idea was to coat the garage with some kind of fancy stuff but the more I research the less confident I am in which product to use. Especially because of the snow up here. Ive had an epoxy garage floor before and they are SO slippery when wet or snowy, like dangerous, even when you add traction additives.

Well you’d mount a small shelf and then put the pressure washer on there, and if you ran a hose bib that you could connect to in the same area you’d have very little hose lines hanging around, then you could do a pressure washer hose reel to keep it all organized and that would mount to the wall:

this washer is awesome just got it myself actually, and super compact and light.
Just used it today and got the job done no problem:

I like the power of 3100 psi my little Honda makes. Curious if you have any feedback on a gasser compared to that unit.

I use mine to clean the cement sometimes the grill. Next project will be painting the block walls so it will be needed there as well.

I understand about epoxy and being slippery. My point is to get it done sooner if you choose to coat the floor. We moved to AZ a year ago. Dust here is slick on bare concrete. I have to be careful riding my Road King into the garage.

I have a Troy bilt 3100/2.5gpm gas as well, was originally bought like you, for home projects, but as for doing the car with it even though the psi and gpm are exaggerated on most models at to high of a psi you can damage the paint, then some foam cannons are only rated up to so many psi before they can blow an o ring etc. the main thing with foam cannons/car washing setups is actually to have a lower to mid 1k psi, but a good gpm.

besides that part the electric to gas comparison, I like how compact this particular unit is, then how actually quiet it really is along with a high gpm with a low 1k psi so don’t have to worry about paint damage. Then setup is super easy and don’t have to worry about gas, oil, or how long anything’s been sitting.

I appreciate the feedback. So it’s mostly seeing car wash duty?

    pretty slick.

Yah it’s more a setup to clean vehicles, you could do some basic home cleaning, for like siding, and screens etc, it’ll get stuff clean, but it’s not going to strip concrete stains etc like a higher psi machine, but i rarely have a need to be doing something like that anyways, im going to end up selling my gasser at this point as the new setup will do 90% of what I need one for.

    Jeremy,

I had mine on a 4.5" grinder (typical size), so it was ripping at a few thousand rpm's.

Pressure is very minimal at that rotational speed. I would barely let it kiss it and it would blast away the residue from the surface. I had maybe two 'stubborn' areas where I put a minute amount of extra pressure.

I practiced on a piece of metal I had laying around first, and I would recommend doing the same. Go light, go heavy, etc. to get the feel.
