Sliders from ebay hit or miss

They LOOK good, and I like the price, if I were looking for sliders I'd be tempted.

 

ever get that feeling some things arent as they seem, my best advice would be try them and see its what you expected the price cant be beat so report back when you get them!

 

Got confused between Foothill Motorsports and Foothill Offroad in my original post. The ebay seller is Foothill Offroad (http://home.foothilloffroad.com).

Foothill Motorsports (http://www.foothillmotorsports.com) is a vendor over on pirate4x4, and they seem to be good people. I'd PM user Foothill Motorsports over there and I bet he'll give you an even better deal than through eBay. He quoted me about $25 cheaper, although I didn't end up making the purchase (saving for Slee Slidersteps).

 

Im also interested in those Trail Gear sliders since they're such a good price but i need to be able to know i can count on them before i buy a set. If you get a set let us know how they hold up.

damn, those slee slider-steps are expensive as hell! i was thinking of making a set of sliders similar to their design when i get the time.

 

I'm actually picking up a set of these trail gears this weekend. I know a guy who has them on his taco and he loves them. He said they have no problem keeping the rocks off the truck. He also picks up the truck via the sliders with the hi-lift with 0 issues. Maybe the company "Trail Gear" has some bad rep, but I've never seen anything negative about their sliders. Welded metal is not rocket science.

 

I have the trail gear sliders on my truck along with just about everyone in my offroad club............never had any issues with them at all. I like them and you cant beat the price.

 

I'm not bashing anyone here but personally, I'd like to see something a little more concrete than one poster's opinion that they're an evil company. A lot of stuff flys around the internet without being traced back to something valid. It tends to be "a guy I know said...." For all we know it's one person who started the whole thing on multiple boards.

Some have claimed they steal other people's designs but where's the proof? Just because a product looks similar to another that doesn't mean it was stolen. Let's face it, sliders are some metal pipes welded together. Do a good job welding, choose quality steel and make sure it fits. I don't know how much R&D there is to that.

I've read nothing but good things from people who actually own the sliders.

 

Anybody have pics of there Trail Gear sliders on? I am curious as to the fitment.

Here are a few of the guy I know who has them, You really can't tell though. I hope he is ok with me posting these pictures .

 

They look to be doing there job ... and your certain those are the ones that are selling on ebay? I think they look pretty good.

 

Those are Trail-Gear Sliders. The same ones selling at trail-gear.com for $250.

 

Just because it's a sponsored event, that doesn't place the blame on the company unless they actively encouraged bad behavior. When you throw an event, you never know who will show up and what maturity level they'll exhibit. I don't think one can fairly blame a company for the acts of individuals who have nothing to do with the company, especially for one event.

And the "lack of R&D" claim is just someone's assertion. I haven't seen anything that proves that they're exhibiting "skeezy" behavior in their business practices, just allegations from a few individuals. If you know, please let us know. Most of that stuff could be designed with a CAD program and a knowledgable engineer.

 

What if I lay down clear behavior guidelines, throw an alcohol-free party but a bad apple comes along, brings his own alcohol and gets drunk without my knowledge, drives off, again without my knowledge and crashes? Am I still responsible? You can't be everywhere.

Do you know for a fact that they didn't encourage good trail behavior before or during the event in question? Or are you assuming that none of that was done because something bad happened? How big was the event (10 trucks, 100 trucks, 1000 trucks)? How many hopped-up mudder trucks does it take to ruin a trail? One irresponsible driver could do a lot of damage to a trail. Was it public land? Did they have the right to throw anyone out?

As a police officer, I know you understand that one bad cop can reflect negatively on the whole force even though clear codes of conduct are present. That doesn't mean the force is to blame.
