She would come but she’s pregnant and we have two dogs at home we would need someone to watch.

I will do some checking but I think most things are rented with the people who are waiting on a property to buy. I know there are places here that do short term rentals for the traveling nurses that come and go.. If you have any parameters of what you are looking for I can see if anything fits. Also I can show you around when you get here if you want, answer any questions you may have.

Thanks man! Don’t feel like you have to go out of your way for me though. I can just google. I was just curious if you knew anything off the top of your head. Our number one requirement is that we can have our two dogs there. I’ll definitely let you know when I’m going out there.

    @Blackdawg

Found a thread on here specifically talking about 2nd gen vibration that sounds like mine. Seems like it's a spring issue that causes the pinion angle to be off and causes the light bumpy road feeling. I guess it was a TSB issue back in the day. I know she had the spring update done, but pulling her Casita wore them out already

Hey Brett, my truck still does that vibration in first gear with some moderate acceleration and I have allpro expo springs. The expo springs all but 100% fixed what your talking about. I think others have decent luck with switching to the dakars too. I'm still on original carrier bearing. A simple trac bar would probably fix it if you want to stay on stock springs. @BossFoss

Sweet, thanks buddy. Not sure how far I want to take it but lifting the back seems like the front will have to follow so I'm cruising stink bug style

    ahh nice.

Little rake will be good! :D I'm team Rake.

That said, you could fab up a trac bar pretty easily.

Were you looking at a superlite? Doesn't seem like the right fit for your use.

Pretty sure zero. They only sold those in batches that all got completed and you haven't been able to order one on their site in months.

I wasn't looking at one, but I had a friend who had one on order for his 4Runner. Getting refunded. You're right they sold them in batches, but they pre-sold prior to inventory coming across the ocean, which we all know is much harder (and more expensive) now.

    ---

Transfer cases. So, as a few here know, I need a new one. Anyway, I was looking them up and it appears that there are *many* variants. A few things that seem to affect part numbers/fitment.

    Obvious:
    • J-Shift (or not) - obviously.
Understandable I suppose, but seems a little strange:
    • 4-cyl vs v6
    • AT vs MT
    What? why?
    • ABS (or not)
    • ADD (or not)
    • Rear Diff Lock
So, does this mean I have to find a donor out of a v6, j-shift, M/T, w/ABS, w/ADD, w/Diff Lock? If so, sure narrowed the field... ::annoyed:

Ah bummer, I was under the impression that everyone who ordered one got one.

    Your chain jumping?

You need a top shift, J shift. Which I believe was on every engine/trans combo except the 4cyl auto. Don't think locker or ABS matters. Not sure on ADD, think it just has one more sensor you swap over, but don't quote me on that.

Zane and Monte diagnosed it as the input shaft bearing (I think that's what they said) tearing itself to bits. I think the early indications of it were when this happened, so it's amazing that it's lasted another 101,152K miles! Especially given that I've had no trouble with it until this trip.

When you say one more sensor for ADD, can you give a bit more info? (sorry, I tend to learn about this stuff in real time as it becomes an issue for me) Is it that there's a plug/sensor that I have to add to the case or something?

Add may require a sensor to know when it's on to engage the diff. But that should be easy to swap over.

Far as I know they are pretty much all the same. The auto vs manual I think just changes where the shifter is. Which you should also be able to swap over.

How bad was the noise when you got home?

The noise got less intense but more constant as we got closer and closer to home. "Spin ups" became less frequent, though I jumped every time it caught and spun up, I think. I'd be lying if I didn't say that by the time I got home, I sort of wished we'd just kept going, because it seemed "less bad" than when we were down there. Of course, my brain knows that staying would have been a bit crazy.

There was a more constant bearing noise as I got home, and it was most pronounced in fourth gear. Not that I know what that means or is special in any way; just what I noticed. Slower speeds were also noisier, but that could have just been due to other road noise.

I wonder if I should just be taking apart my current case, and looking at replacing bits on the inside. Thoughts?

Totally an option. Just be a bit more down time. But not bad. You could certainly just replace the bearings.
