Here is a pic of a pic .. just took this of an old photo .. IIRC .. we were doing a rotary flight into Vancouver by the old ESSO station .. circa 1980 ?

Looking through some old pics now and I think this is Vancouver ...

if anyone is bored tomorrow you can watch the great migration of millionaires and billionaires flying into Bozeman, MT and the Yellowstone Club ski area in their private jets. Noticed an uptick in traffic today, sure to be more tomorrow. Nothing like last year though - I think there were jets landing every 20 to 30 minutes for at least 10 hours a day for a week straight. Kinda off to a slow start this year.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
Stumbled across this while following my typical youtube rabbit holes. Matt's team gets a call to bring back a downed a C150H that made a (literally) forced landing in very remote terrain while encountering harsh downdrafts that it simply couldn't outclimb. Continuing winds then flipped the aircraft over on its back before it could be recovered. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Of course, the video focuses on the recovery and not the aviation side, but I thought it was neat to see the less publicized side of post-crash recovery logistics.

Be aware of weather, winds, and terrain! Don't write checks your plane and/or skill can't cash!

Cool to see a piston Otter. Not many left out there. Certainly not running the B.C.

Alenia-Aermacchi M211 platform, but looks super clean and fairly new so may be the newer 311/345 upgrade.

Don't have any time in that one, but do have some familiarity and sim time with its twin engine'd big brother, the M346.

I was in the pattern with it the other day. Cubs and jets really don’t mix well.

I can imagine. I used to ride along on some of the DC freeze penetration flights with CAP and it was always fun to see the F-16s try to stay in the air matching our C-182 doing its best

Getting intercepted by a USCG helicopter as a fixed wing on the other hand is a big hit to the ego.

I know you've said before, but what's your home field? You have some serious hardware come through there.

I just throw the cub in a steep dive and pull it out at the last minute to land and get out of the way. Probably hit 60knots at least.

I hate it when they are doing a 2 or 3 ship departure and announce they are waiting for the cub to land. I mean, I’m almost pulling the wings off here and I get no love.

KVBT. Serious collector with serious money. They are all flown regularly although the Bell H13 is mostly for looks.

Back in 2012 taking a glider flight in Durango...not much lift that day so we did some maneuvers on the way down

I got credited for 17 real world "SAR finds" with CAP, all of which were at EAA Airventure tracking down aircraft that didn't close out their flight plans. My favorite/most ironic being having to sneak up to the aircrew of a Gulfstream G4 and remind them to close their flight plan ASAP quietly enough the pax didn't hear. Tail Number was N1

Yeah, we caught 'em slippin. I told the flight crew and they did the panic double shoulder look and one of them whipped out their Ipad. Gave us a laugh the rest of the day. It's hard finding a single aircraft at an event that busy so it def helped break up the grind.

Worst was the calls like "BOLO; flight plan overage for a Cessna 182, white with tricolor stripes on the side, tail Nxyz123"

*looks around, sees 800 matching livery cessnas just on this parking area*

ugh, time to start looking at tail #s.

The "missing" Rutan Long-EZ took like 10 seconds though since its so strange.

FAA also has a big facility right in that area around Dulles too. N1-N3 are usually housed in the USCG hangar at Washington Reagan.
