Vodka just mellows me out and makes me sleep better. Whiskey makes me wander the streets singing Christmas carols. In July. And punch people who don’t like it. Then punch their car. Usually cops. I quit drinking whiskey.

 

My (Masonic) Lodges were part of the Placerville Christmas Parade yesterday but my wife and I had other plans with her folks, so I wasn't able to make it. I gotta suggest they don't have the parade on a Sunday in the future

 

This reminds me of a hilarious story.

So back when I went into the Army, one of the guys I went through Basic Training with, was this guy from another part of the Los Angeles area, he was 18 like I was, right out of high school. He considered hi8mself quite the party animal.... but since we were very closely monitored during Basic Training, when we were allowed to go to the PX (Post Exchange - essentially a Walmart-like store, but owned/run by the Military), we were not allowed to purchase things like alcohol. So, they guy stocked up on NyQuil. Like 3 of the big bottles of the stuff. So later that night, after lights out, he drinks it. All of it. Not too long after that, he started moaning and groaning loudly. All night. He was a mess the next day, when we started PT (Physical Trai8ning) at 0415 AM. The Drill Instructors obviously noticed his condition, and while I can't say I recall perfectly, I'm sure they made him pay for that dumbass little stunt.

Oh, to be 18 and dumb as fuck again... NOT!

 

The spiced rum is so good but so sweet. If you like that combo you should try diet coke, amaretto and whiskey together so yummy.

Lol there's never a good day to have a parade in that town. Traffic is a always a mess.

Hmm... Not sure how Lodge memberships work but would your area span to Loomis? You may know an old high school friend of mine, Frank U.

Yes, the traffic and the 3 lights on highway 50 have been a point of hotly debated contention for as long as I have been here.... (1994)

There isn't any rule or regulation as far as where a Masonic Lodge can be established, how many can exist in the same town, etc.. Back in the gold rush says, I believe El Dorado County had something like 15 Lodges, today we have only 2, and they are within 5 miles of each other (Placerville and El Dorado). There isn't one right in Loomis, but there are Lodges in Roseville, Penryn, and Auburn. A person can belong to any one he wants, and as many as you can afford to pay annual dues to.

In the 24 years I have been a Mason, I have traveled all up and down California attending various functions at many Lodges, I've met a ton of other Masons, but often don't remember Name <-> Face, so it is entirely possible I have met your friend at one time or other.

I asked because he usually lands himself in a position of importance but I'm not sure how long he's been a Mason (since he's my age). His resume is all Director of this, CEO of that, President/Councilman, etc...

Things are good here.
Biggest issue for me right now is trying to figure out what Christmas gifts to get for wife/son/mom/sibs, etc.
