I'm thinking of removing the TRD decals from the sides of my truck for a cleaner look. What is the best way to do this? Or can someone point me to a thread on this. I searched and couldn't find anything.

    Thanks

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
for the trd decals, i just caught an edge and pulled them off...try to keep it in one piece and it'll be easy. then just use any solvent to remove the adhesive.

Hot day in the sun or hair dryer to heat them up, find edge and peel slowly.
Paitence is key or you will have more adhesive left than desired.
WD-40 works on residue then wax normally.
Depending on how long they have been there and what color you truck is you might see a pattern faded in the paint.

    Thanks,
After some hot sun, I peeled them off working very slowley -that is the key! I got the residue off with Goof-Off. Worked really good. Then I waxed. Took me a couple of hours, but I think it was well worth it. My decals were bright red/white against the dark blue -just too much for me.

Wait a minute, you paid a lot for that TRD package and you want to pull them off? :)

I was thinking the same thing, but I can tolerate them for now. I have a Silver Taco and came from a Sun Fusion Yellow FJ Cruiser prior, so a little stickage is tolerable...

I pulled mine off also. It looks alot cleaner without them. Silver Jim, you are right about paying alot for the package, but the package is alot more than just those stickers. The only reason I bought the TRD package is because I wanted the sport hood. If I could have gotten the hood without the package, I would have. Spacedude, If you are thinking about removing the stickers, remove them now. The longer you take the harder it is and the worse your truck will look. After a while your paint will not match where the sticker was if you wait too long.

Oh yea, I know TRD is more than stickers.... I am just saying that a lot of peeps like the badging, most do. My point was, I didnt think the badging was bad at all compared to driving a yellow FJ. But everyone has their prefs. I actually thought about pulling them off too before they fully bond with the paint... :)

I recently bought my 06 TRD. But it came with out any Decals... no TRD stickers... no metal "Tacoma" emblems... Not a single decal except for the name of the dealership that I bought it from. Any reason why someone would remove ALL the decals and emblems???

yea i recently debadged mine as well. It looks soooo much better IMO. I left the trd decals on though. However I might switch them over with some of sockmonkey's. I can't believe it took you(spacedude) two hours! I debaged my truck in like an hour and those are emblems! As long as it looks good. Could We get some pics maybe.

funny you guys are removing the stickers. I took all the oem stripes off my truck, and then put trd stickers on the bedsides...too much of one color for me..I had to break it up

For someone that does not know how to best remove decals, this is very bad advice. Depending on the amount of residue left behind, you can use wax to remove it, or as mentioned WD-40 or Goo Be Gone...just be very careful and use sparingly. If you are too aggressive, you can remove the clear coat and even paint.

I'm gonna use the hairdryer method and see how that goes. Sockmonkey's going to hook me up with these, man he does good work.

When I replaced my stock badges with sock badges, I used a hairdryer. Makes it a lot easier to take off. But the residue, the only thing that worked for me was Goo Be Gone (or goo off, or whatever it's called). I tried many other things, but nothing worked worth a damn. The Goo stuff worked in minutes!

I thought about that but I plan on keeping my truck for a long time so it shouldn't matter.
