Yea its like spray paint vs powder coat for Sliders all depends on how much you use em and how much maintenance you want to do.

What, the difference between Cerakote and RobCantCoat ? :p

This is my new thought (and yes, it hurt as much as the old one) since I store this more than use it maintenance shouldn't be an issue. If so, then would laying it on a table at someones range with normal handling use be too hard on it? You know, for using rattle cans. I would do it right though and not screw around.

I would take all the polymer pieces and run them through the dishwasher first, then re-assemble everything as it will be used, because pretty much 99.9% of the time, that's how it will remain here at the house. Primary use is home defense. Secondary use is kissing Brian at the range for every shot I miss, instead of getting a margarita, right Tony @Tonymontana ?!!

I would definitely use an adhesion promoter like the one guy did. They make that stuff for a reason and it does what it claims. I have used them before with 3M tape.

Then since I really liked that twine idea, and since I can get any kind of natural foliage stencil I want here at the house the sky's the limit. If I had an air brush gun I would play more but I don't so I wont. It's not a lot of mass or surface area to paint and the size is considerably much smaller when compared to any kind of rifle, I believe. I know Jim @pdenajim has a better sense of the comparison than me. So I think the pattern should be a smaller one, more suited to a smaller piece. But honestly, anything would look great when done right. And not too much dark colors.

I will also follow the cure times to a T. That is what separates the good paint jobs from great paint jobs. Since I am in no rush, I will wait for the specified number of days to wait between coats. Then I will follow everything up with a couple of coats of flat clear. Or maybe use Plastidip clear.

 That's my plan, but I have not ruled out the cerakote. I just want to research it more and find some colors that aren't metallic or so designer. I want black, grey, white, tan ?, brown ? The last two I am not sure. The tan might be as off the black, white, grey theme.

Great pic! I was gonna say, I think they're more civilized up there than down there.

    :hattip:
:hattip: we got :rain: overnight, but not much. You get anything from up in that tree?

I had to look it up to see what you meant, and also had to have sounded out for me. I love the interwebs. They've made me so much smarter. SO do you mean in the context: "when the patient recovers and returns to previous health, but may continue to be a source of infection to others" ? I know I am infectious, I have been told that many times. Mostly by the ladies. That whole "recovers and returns" part though kinda eliminates me completely. Some say it has been around 67% but not the full 100% that was the goal. Oh well.

By the way, I have been drinking Stok Cold Brew Coffee, pumpkin flavored with a Sweet Cream topping, and each time it reminds me of our rendezvous' last summer at that Starbucks just outside the beltway. :101010:

Rob, for what you want to do the Krylon Fusion All-In-One works well. Just allow 20 - 30 minutes between coats and then once your finished spraying don't touch it for 7 days.
Duracote works very well but is much more expensive.
I've seen folks get very creative with their camo patterns, foliage, various size meshes, free-hand and they all look pretty damned good.

I looked for some "camo" paint at HD earlier but nothing. I want to check Walmart and Lowes.

Yea, my normal paint jobs look camo when I am not trying to achieve that so I have an edge.

But yea, you can bring your crusty old ass up here any weekend and I'll throw something on the grill and we can have a painting party. Aw who am I kidding?! We'll party, then we'll paint! Wait, you'll be driving , so you won't be partying. :( That's ok, I will party for both of us! :drunk:

That's freaking awesome!!! I have eaten other wild game including boar, but I don't remember ever eating any bear. How is it? I bet it's good in a pressure cooker with some root veggies.

On the "Hmmmm" side, you are going to eat a bear that has eaten other animals you hunt and have killed.
Just think, if you were snorkeling and a shark ate you, he would have in essence eaten all the way down the food chain!

Cerakote is great for field use, edc, type stuff. Range Bunnies and collector pieces spray paint is fine. You can save the cost of a cerakote job and buy an extra rattle can and still have enough for a steak dinner left over. The knife I was talking about is my everyday carry knife so after years of use in and out of the charger over and over again through out the nights its still well coated if not a little worn on the ring.
