I just picked up a Porter Cable pancake compressor.

What size air hose should I go with and which brand?

You can get either a 1/4" or 3/8". That pancake compressor won't output enough cfm to really power any high demand tools anyways so a 1/4" will be just fine while a 3/8 won't add anything (imo).

As for brands....I've used flexzilla quite a bit and been happy with them. Also used generic store brand ones and been happy.

I'd aim for a hybrid material hose. I've found them to stay the most flexible in all temps. Poly/pvc tend to get firm in colder temps.

The couplers can be a bit annoying if you mix and match. There's different types out there. So if you want I'd pick up some of the same type so you know they will all work together.

Does the Flexzilla brand have the couplers?

Reading online, The Porter Cable pancake have 1/4 couplers from the manufacturer. I will probably go with the 1/4 hose.

What length should I go with? Will there be less air the longer the hose is?

The only reason I went with the pancake is, it can be easy carried to location.

Couplers you just want to stick with one style. There industrial, auto, and universal. Google about air couplers. Its not really an issue till you try to fit an auto into an industrial. But long as you stay with one type it doesnt matter

Go with whatever length you think you will want. 50ft is pretty common. You will lose some pressure but at 50ft it is pretty minimal. IE if you set the regulator to 90PSI at the tool end of those it might be 88PSI with the 1/4" 50ft hose. Not an issue for 99% of the time. Either compensate for it at the regulator (set to 92/93 psi) or just realize a 2psi drop isnt enough to worry about for most things.

What about something like this hose that comes with it own couplers? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Flexzilla-...VF6jICh1ifgWoEAQYAyABEgLSF_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Will I have issues with hose couplers sealing with the couplers on the compressor?

Since the pancake compressor is small enough to carry from point A to B, Do you think a 25 ft hose will be good?

Will I need a adapter to fit the 1/4 in coupler coming off the compressor to fit the 3/8 in hose/couplers?

First compressor,so I have no clue what to by.

Reading too many Q&A, reviews that are leading to more questions than answers.

This. I still have my Craftsman air hose from 1992! No leaks. Works great. I just keep it out of the sun and oil/lubes. Wipe it down from time to time.

When it Dies? I would just hit Amazon. Flexilla would be killa.

Finally got myself a shop vac. Man, one of those things you don't realize you need until you have one. Garage looks freakishly clean now.

Whatever length you choose, consider rubber hoses over PVC. They’re more manageable especially in the cold.

Also, one typically gets the length needed for the jobs and how far away from the noisy compressor they want to be.

Harbor Freight diablo rubber 3/8" hose is a good value-- the ones they say 'compare to Goodyear'. Really like them in use.

I won't argue this but there are different fittings and if not installed correctly, they will leak down.
I switched my entire garage and wood show to high-flow quick connect fittings. They are different than a standard fitting found on your standard "box store or Harbor Fright" compressor.

As such, keep several spare connectors in tool boxed and what not, just in case.

Consider using Locktite 545 pneumatic thread sealer or even 242 removeable instead of teflon tape on all your fittings. Much more air tight and you don't get shredded white tape in your flow path.

i went with 3/8” hose and 1/4” high flow fittings, they seem to be doing the trick. I kept all mine industrial “d” style
