Fuck Kohler in general. I used to have to deal with their CEO and executive team at a past job and they are a bunch of arrogant assholes.

Horn on the 99 won’t work reliably in cold weather. It’s funny because the piezo buzzer on my RS3000 Toyota keyless system only works below ~45 degrees.

I’m guessing clockspring/spiral cable. I’ll have to dig into it later when the 04 is back driving.

Just have a way to seal it back up when you're done. I just used RTV.

Definitely pretty easy so long as you don't spill that lovely smelling oil in the cab.

Well that's just par for the course then. Their engines are shit, for a lot of reasons.. but my biggest gripe is their "workaround" to deal with emissions. Every other small engine sold in the US made at least a small effort in changing actual engine efficiency to reduce emissions.

Kohler's solution? "JUST LEAN THAT CARB OUT BRO!" don't run the engine at night, you might think something is wrong 20211207_070324.jpg

Yea it's pretty easy. You need to take the console apart, but I would take off 10 screws on the interior of the truck over laying on my back dumping gear lube on myself anyway. See if Toyota has a cork or paper gasket for the shifter, then you don't have to dick around with RTV. I'm trying to think if my trans even has a gasket or seal on the shifter. Also I would just dump 3qts in there and not even worry about overfilling it a bit, if anything I will help keep the trans slightly cooler, it's all splash lubed anyway. The hardest part about servicing it from the bottom IMO is working around the damn driveshaft.

Oh you may as well do the tcase while you have the console apart.

Mine had a paper gasket and you have to be careful not to tear it. Some parts stick to the trans and some to the shifter.

fingers crossed i dont spill. I will check for paper or cork gasket around, but rtv in the end i guess if i come up short. What color rtv should i put on there? definitely dont mind removing 10 screws. 5 lug means no tcase ;)

thank u all again for being so helpful

Any RTV that works for the oil pan should work.
