Haven't posted anything on here recently about the swap, however I am swapping a 1UR-fse out of a Lexus ls460 with a cd009. Just got the 2tr pulled out over the weekend, going to start mocking up the v8 over the Christmas break. Going to be using a Fueltech FT550 for management.

 

I'm excited to see the progress on this swap!

Turned it into my work vehicle for the next week or so after the transmission in my work van took a dump.

 

I purchased a set of the Matt gecko LED set from another member on here. Super easy and the walk through/directions made it a piece of cake.

Installed Icon suspension, upper control arm and add-a-leaf.

 

Saved about $25 changing my own oil only to drain all the oil out and realize the kid sold me the wrong filter (I’ve always just had Toyota do it). Luckily I dropped my dad off at the airport last week and kept his car at my apartment. Had to go run and get the correct filter. Don’t think I’ll be crawling all over the cold ground and disposing the used oil again to save $25

Also had a friend drop off all this lumber free for the drawer/bed build for the camper. That’ll save me a good $150 in 3/4” ply

 

oil changes are easy, buy all your filters and washers online from toyota parts. you can spend that extra $25 on more maintenance stuff!

 

Maybe come spring time when it’s not so cold. I’m not driving much so it actually took me 7 months to hit 5000 miles since the last change. Managed to do the diffs, t case, and trans about 15k miles ago myself though. My last 3 vehicles I always changed the oil mtself because it seemed worth it. Though you are right, $25 is $25 haha

 

Get yourself a Fumoto valve and buy a 5 or 10 pack of filters offline and you'll never bring it in for a change again. Takes 15 mins and 1 beer to get it done. Thing I love most about having a truck now is I don't even need to jack it up or anything, Just slide under, open the valve, crack a beer and wait for it to drain. I just did the oil on my girlfriends Ford Escape and they put the damn filter in front but a little ways up and put a bunch of hoses under it. Took me about an hour to do hers because I couldn't get a filter wrench on it at first then 10 mins of clean up to get all the oil off the hoses it of course dripped all over them.

 

2nd gen oil changes are easy. I had a 3rd gen for 5.5 years and that was a royal pain thanks to the canister style filter under the truck. The minute I did the 1st oil change I knew I would eventually be back in a 2nd gen. Best design ever is the top mounted oil filter. I also had a Fumoto drain valve in the 3rd gen that made it easy with the TRD skid plate. They are sweet. Would only add it if I added the full skid on my 2nd gens but no plans on that.

 

I’m not sure where they are on the 4.0 but on the 2.7 they’re sitting above the oil pan. Not a huge deal but definitely requires some shimmying to get to. I owned 2 BMWs that had it up top, I loved it
