LOL Myrtle Beach reminds me of San Diego in the 70's and 80's when I lived there. of course without the cultural stuff like theaters, sports teams, zoos, Parks...(ah Balboa park) and vast desert area.....but the water is a whole lot warmer and with that comes creatures...LOL

Not "news" been there done that...... I have a choice where to live....I spent over 15 great years in San Diego before it blew up into a metropolis...600K people. I loved it then. We could be in Mission beach at 12:30PM decide to go see Fouts and the Chargers at make the game for kickoff and get a good seat....Padres were very easy to see. Even in 84 the stadium was never full...and they went to the WS that year. I got tickets because i went to 6 games using Ticketron...LOL There were not enough Season ticket holders so they offered playoff WS tickets to people eho used Ticketron!! LOL I am guessing it is a lot different today.

The benefits that matter most to me here outweighed the benefits there. San Diego has nice weather and fair weather sports fans (when I was there) .. if you live near the beach in Clairemont where I did MB or PB it was nice. Otherwise its pure desert living out in the Mesas and El Cajon. Chula Vista? National City? san Ysidro? No thanks Here it's hot and wet LOL.

The issue I have is not so much with San Diego but with California vs South Carolina laws.

I live 4 miles from the beach and 1 mile from the marina in the waterway in a small 1700 SF 5 year old custom home on a couple acres with a pond and wooded backyard...Property taxes are a whopping $573 a year....

Here is why I prefer Myrtle Beach

Vehicles Boats, bikes sales tax capped at $300
I can target shoot in my backyard

No one makes us sort trash..in fact we have a choice to pay $12 a month to have trash pick up or take it to the dump free.

No requirement for licenses for trailers boats, motorcycles, lawn..campers.
No state mandated inspections on any vehicles of any kind
Cost of living is waaaaaaay less. insurances, fuel, rent home ownership....

No border state issues and associated crime

loaded reachable weapons are leagal in one's vehicle and not discouraged.

Great weather most of the year for outdoor events

    No traffic easy beach parking
Warm ocean water at uncrowded free beaches

Golf is cheap and plentiful for those who like that walk in the park.

Beautiful scenery 100 miles in any direction rather than traffic to the north and desert to the east STRAIGHT on EIGHT for 10 hours to Phoenix... .Very nice Bike riding country here with quick jaunts to the twisty mountains of N Carolina or to the Outer Banks. Julian is nice but you can see all f what that area has to see in three rides.

I prefer a Very conservative state meaning very little Nanny Government rules and that is the number one reason I chose Myrtle beach over San Diego which in the 70's was GREAT .... I left in the early nineties and never looked back. Went to Vegas for 15 years...then here.

Still I enjoy visiting San Diego. It is a BEAUTIFUL city and a great sports town.... but I would not want to live there again or Vegas.. I like the small town less populated Mayberry now.

That's cool! Wish somebody would offer me money to smile. But then they'd probably want me to get a girlied up... nevermind! I'll stick to being behind the camera.

I shoot some pics every once and a while. Nothing like some of the guys do on here. Mostly family shots, maternity pics, stuff like that for friends for free.

Just one my best friend took a while back. My 'serious' face lol
