Submitted a support ticket several days ago through the website about updates not appearing on my account dashboard. What's the usual timeframe for a response?

In my experience response is usually pretty quick, but it's been pretty quiet in here lately.

Well, I just flashed Valley Runner standard. It did what I wanted and I'm happy with it.

I only have about 12 miles on the tune, so it has not had time to settle. However, I did not reset the learning values. What I can say with certainty, the throttle is now predictable. The biggest complaint I had (which did improve with time, but had not resolved on the stock tune) was how if I was holding the peddle down with a steady amount of acceleration, when I hit about 3k RPM there would be a noticeable increase in power to the wheels. This occurred very consistently. For the most part it was annoying, but once or twice it was flat dangerous on icy roads. The tune definitively removed this. I tried to make it occur, but it would not.

I want to say I have more low end torque and better acceleration, but it is not obvious, so it could just be wishful thinking. I will say, the split second of lag when taking off from a stop is now gone. The truck had developed a good bit of low end torque in the last few hundred miles on the stock tune and would consistently give a smooth start in second gear. It feels more willing to start in second now, but I could not swear to it. It also feels like I have more acceleration in 6th, but she could accelerate going up a hill in 6th before the tune, so again, I don't have an objective measure.

Again, this did exactly what I wanted.

@LstMinutePanic thanks, it was nice knowing you are around if I screwed up.

Edit: Low end torque is certainly improved.

Congrats! It's a bit intimidating installing that first tune. Get ready to fall in love with your truck all over again. Installing a quality tune makes a world of difference with these trucks.

@TermLimits were you able to do any Dyno testing? Curious what the numbers were for valley runner compared ovtune or stock. If anyone else has any numbers you want to add please chime in and tell us what your results were. Even just 0 to 60s done with a stopwatch. I know it feels a little faster on my truck but haven't been able to actually test it. Thanks!

I located your submission and fixed the issue. You created the account after purchasing as opposed to before/during. The products have been linked and you are able to download them now. Email has also been responded to.

We have been swamped lately with custom tune requests, adjusting orders for new tire sizes (people upgrading/downgrading for winter or sales), as well as developing three tunes simultaneously.

Also learned that master key locked tune files somehow do not open on additional company computers. So our efforts to bring a second computer in to provide faster edits were swiftly met with this issue. So far we have a 4Runner tune development computer and a Tacoma development computer. Needing to process/convert all our old files to new unlocked ones for backend company sharing (taking forever)

I apologize on behalf of the company for any delays/silence in regards to information being shared.

All good, just swamped as mentioned above. Sport is being converted this weekend and we will be randomly selecting from the list of those who volunteered to test.

4Runners are 95% complete, conversion is in progress there as well. 4Runners will see a simultaneous release of VR and VS. Downside being that OV recently released their 4Runner files, we do not want to step on Mat's toes or ride the heels of their release too quickly. As it stands, VFTuner and Valley Tuning have a great working relationship and we'd like to keep it this way.

We do not have official dynos performed, originally had some scheduled back in October but the local company did not want to run a truck on the dyno along side the fact we would not pay them to tune an already tuned vehicle. In the process of finding a new/willing company nearby.

As for 0-60, a long time ago we pulled on a stretch of road nearby both stock and again tuned (old school VR Heavy files). Stock resulted in 8.11 back then and VR Heavy 6.90/6.91. These were run with an OBD monitor full power through the speed, traction control off, ECT on, S mode. Results may vary for users depending on vehicle configuration as well as environmental factors. (I'll find the photos and attach them here when I can)

In due time buddy . Converting this weekend and selecting testers.

    ------------------

    Updates for all:

We have finally gotten ahead of the custom tune files/edits for customers enough to get back into development. As such, converting the Sport files for all 3rd Gen trucks will take place this weekend. Test vehicles will be selected and users will be messaged directly on TW.

The tunes will begin taking a revised approach to tire size and gear ratio. 32" and below tires function identically on tunes, shift points being the only affected item within 1mph of variance at most. In the future, tunes will be available in 32" and below, 33", 34", 35" tire configurations. Anything larger will still need to be a custom request for tire size (simple edit and usually done within a day or so). This will drastically reduce the number of tune files needed to be produced, cut down on server space, as well as provide those who alternate summer/winter tires an easy way to remain tuned 24/7.

    --

Pre-Tuned ECUs are available through the website for those in areas not serviced by authorized installers. These kits include a fully tuned ECU, custom Handshake adapter, full color instructions, as well as return labels for the ECU core. Alternatively, you may elect to keep your original ECU at the expense of the core charge.

Currently we offer 2016-2020 AT trucks only.

    --

    4Runner:

4Runner development has entered the conversion process. With the release of OVTune for these vehicles, we have decided to delay our roll out and not step on their toes. We intend on maintaining our working relationship with VFTuner.

As such, 4Runners will see the release of Valley Runner and Valley Sport simultaneously. Once conversions are completed, an update will be published on our website under the UPDATES tab.

Important note on 4Runner tune installation: We do not have access to the transmission computer of these vehicles. Shift points are not able to be adjusted at this time, however once available and edited, the additional files will be added to any and all purchased packages.

    --

    Final note to all

As we continue our efforts to provide advanced tuning products, it is important to note that with the holidays we may eventually get bogged down with requests. During this time we ask for a small extension on time to process these requests in the order which they were received.

As always, thank you for the ongoing support. We look forward to keeping your vehicles tuned for years to come.

    Happy Holidays and Be Safe!

    The Valley Tuning Crew!

    Update:

Our VFTuner master key has run into an issue during converting. More or less the program believes that no master key exists, essentially locking us out.

Currently working with Mat over at VFTuner to get up and running again.

    I’ll keep y’all posted!

    Update (maybe)?

It looks like our software issue is going to exist for a little longer than we hoped. VFTuner has suggested that the remedy will roll out in the v1.5 update sometime in the near future (they are slated to release the update in December with no specific date). Until then, it seems that our ability to access the software, make edits, and tune vehicles in-house will be on hold.

All authorized installers listed on our website can obviously continue performing installs as usual since the error only has affected our development computers. That being said, unfortunately this means the release of Sport along side the 4Runner files has been pushed once more. As it stands, we have roughly half of the ECU IDs converted for these files. Testing for each platform will be placed on hold since any issues that may arise cannot be addressed.

All files which are currently available through the website are still listed for purchase and will continue working for customers who download them.

Temporarily, pre-tuned ECU sales will be suspended since the orders cannot be fulfilled related to this software bug.

On behalf of the entire Valley Tuning team I apologize again for the inconvenience. When more information becomes available I will share it here as well as through the website's update page.

Supposedly the issue comes from unlocking multiple new ECU IDs within a short period of time. The credit server could not keep up in assigning them to our master key. I believe that they are looking into a fix but it has been radio silence since this morning.

Personally, I believe a band-aid fix would be resetting what ECU IDs are unlocked with our master key and allowing us to gradually (and slowly) re-unlock the ones we needed. And/or possibly resetting the install count on our master key that way a complete uninstall and reinstall can be performed.

Any and all clicking inside the program greets us with the "privileged instruction" error. Essentially what happens when an unlicensed software attempts to open tune files.

    ----

An additional quirk we've noticed is that all of the locked tune files from our secondary computer, do not open on our primary. The master key lock works but also locks the file to the computer which originally selected the option. This in turn means that all the tacoma files which are locked on computer #1 can only be opened/edit on computer #1, computer #2 was being used for 4Runner files, essentially making it the 4Runner computer.

Part of the issue we are experiencing now more than likely stems from the fact we were opening stock files left and right, manually transferring all the edits over, and exporting the files as UNLOCKED in-house files. That way in the future either computer may have the ability to edit.

    :annoyed:

Are you having issues with flashing? Sometimes all the data doesn't come over when I flash and /or I get issues while flash. Never had these issues until this new software...

Sucks it had to get changed over. Re inventing the wheel...
