Currently I have a Bilstein 5100 lift (4th Clip up front / AAL on back) with 265/75/16 Wildpeaks on stock OR rims with 1.25” spacer.

The lift was only supposed to be 1.5” but seems higher than that and the size of the 265s just looks to small. I’m on the fence with either dropping the front one clip notch and going to a 1 inch block on the back to make the tires more proportional, or buying 17 inch rims and putting 275/70/17s on.

How bad will a C rated 275 tire kill performance?

It will not kill any "performance" you currently have. But you will feel it

It's not the load range rating, it's weight and diameter increase of a tire that will reduce some performance. You probably wont see that much considering 275/70/17s are not much bigger than your current tires. In fact, you could probably get wheels that weigh less than your OEMs and reduce overall unsprung mass from what you have now. I will say going up a wheel size will make your tire look somewhat smaller. 35s on 17s always look "smaller" than 35s on 16s to me because of the bigger sidewall.

How long ago was the front lift done? It will settle a bit over time.

    This.

My truck looked like it was on stilts after the lift, and I already started factoring bigger tires and a regear before just letting it settle and being fine with it.

275/70r17 is not a lot bigger than 265/75r16. Less than half an inch wider and taller

Older body style but I have 275/70r17 falkens load c. Biggest difference I noticed with these tires was braking. Not enough difference to make me want to go back to a smaller tire though96AB5CE5-E89B-43F0-ACDE-E3F9AA4CEAC7.jpg

I have seen some trucks with 17” rims 265/70/17s and the same lift, which for some reason look more proportional even though the diameter is supposed to be the same. Being ocd is destructive to your brain.

From what I have been reading, I think people use the 3rd notch more commonly with the bilstein setup? Easy fix if it seems too high. Or do you want an excuse to buy new rims? Lol

You know, 280s would look really good on that truck.

    ^This!!
Id wait until those tires are toast then consider the new size.
What about 255 85 16 on stock rims?
My white OR is built and in transit. Im going 5100's on the 4th clip and 255 85 16 Maxx on stock rims.

I should wait to ware them out, but I don’t drive much. Their or more likely to rot before wearing out! Hahaah. I just put some 275\70\17s next to it and its hard not to get crazy.

I like the stock rims. Just limited on tires with a 16”

If you like the stock look you might be able to get a set of 17” takeoffs from a dealership. I paid $200 for the whole set of 17” 4 runner takeoffs I put on my truck.

Lowering the front will look worse because you will have more rake. I'm on the 4th perch and a 1 inch rear block, running 265/70/17 and its perfect. Leave it, mine is on stock springs and it is still the same as it was when the lift was installed 3 years ago.
