love the berd wheels. I’ve had my first set for over 2 years and never had to touch them. Just got the second set in yesterday . I figured it was time to swap out my other carbon wheels (nox)

I don’t think berd is out of line on pricing either. If I had to pick this would be my builder. I am a fan of WR1 though, and what they try to do as a company keeping supply and manufacture local.

edit: I didn’t pull the trigger. I didn’t even have a bike at the time I received this email reply. I just emailed for a custom wheel build quote. When this got back to me I’d already sold the firebird.

That's quite the stable @tandemgeek ! Alex was super great to work with and had the bike ready for us really quick. We're in Northwest Arkansas now, transplanted from East Atlanta Village about 7 years ago. Not sure if we ever crossed paths but I was a shop rat at Peachtree bikes from '05-'11 and worked at Bicycle South in Decatur before that. My wife and I "won" the tandem category on our MT1000 at Sothern Cross two times.

Those are some light wheels. At first I thought that $600 was for labor (I would get back into wheel building) looks like those are some sweet spokes. Reminds me of the Tioga Tension Disc.

Yes! I love the richfield area. Some amazing shuttle laps to be had.

Nice! That's still some pretty hefty work done! Good work man!

Does anyone ride around central Florida? Specifically curious to hear opinions on Loyce Harpe Park, Alafia River State Park, and Balm Boyette Scrub Preserve. I'm bringing my bike along when we fly down to visit the in-laws later this month.

The name is familiar but I can't recall visiting there. Amy and I were pretty involved with the Georgia Cyclocross Series and I also raced track at Dick Lane Velodrome for quite a few years.

Word on the street says Alafia, Loyce Harpe (Carter Road) , Santos, and Markham park are worth the ride

We've got some local groups that travel south to ride every Winter and I've Guided some Florida natives that rave about those spots, also.

The ongoing joke is despite the MTB programming in Bentonville hardly any locals actually ride.

Thanks! I'll be 45 minutes from Loyce Harpe and another 30 from Alafia, so those are number 1 and 2 on the list to check out. I'm just happy I'll be able to leave the fatbike home and ride in shorts a couple more times!

If it snows as much as forecasted on Thursday, Friday might be a bust at Richfield. ???

You know how you see people shuttling and secretly wish that they'd invite you on a back-of-the-truck ride to the top? That didn't happen. I climbed that shit 3 times! I was wishing for a shuttle on the 3rd lap. I'm gonna have to invite at least a 2-vehicle group next time!!

One thing I did learn is to park at the water tank TH next time and not at the northeast TH. ;)

haha. yes. watertank TH is the best place to park. Last time, my buddies and I had 5 people total and did odd-man-out shuttles. so 1 person drive the truck while everyone else rides and just swap out drivers. Honestly, I bet you if you asked anyone with an empty seat they would've taken you up.

Totally forgot we have that storm coming in! It's been so dry and warm that I forgot it's winter at all. I guess we could pivot to skiing since it's supposed to snow down to the valley floor.

    Ha! Sent a follow-back.
Rode the planned route today. Took out the lowest part of Rush, it’s pretty boring, and added in Levitate this time.
Up to Jacobs, down the ladder from Lone Rock, down Rush, back to and down Levitate, then down MH DH. 27 miles, 4400 feet. But I cheated!
