    Thanks, for the tip!

What about the white thread sealer that plumbers use, will it seal the threads? My friend has bottles of the white stuff.

Do you think once sealed, should I spray soapy water to check for leaks?

I'm thinking about 25ft hose for now. For the hose I'm thinking about something bright in color, high visibility do it won't be a trip hazard.

I'm going to browse around this weekend. Home Depot didn't have much in stock when I went.

Paste? Yes, works great. Most all are rated for air. Teflon tape, cheap kind, sucks. Don't waste your time.

As long as the threads are good, tight but not super tight there should be no leaks (I use paste, never had a leak). I mean if you suspect you have a leak, ok to check, but seems like a bit of a waste of time.

FTR I don't keep my hoses under pressure 24/7. Maybe that's why mine last so long perhaps.

They are just the type of connection, really no benefit to one or the other. If you choose for example to put only type A fittings on air tools requiring oil, it would help to not confuse putting tools that require oil on a non oiled line or vice versa. For the joe homeowner, it's just a matter of picking a fitting and sticking to it. They also make "universal" couplers that fit all of them, but from my experience don't work so well.

It should say in the vendor manual, otherwise buy a couple at the local lowes or home cheapot and see which one fits, then return the other ones.

    No.

No paste for seals, if that is what you are asking. Threads only.

    @la0d0g

I bought these sets at Lowes last December and have been great. I outfitted my garage and woodshop with these. Have a few spare sets. They were selling for $4.99 (not the $14.99 listed) and the price was not shown on the shelf. I did a price check and got the sets (10x) for $5

    Easy snap fit on off

I'm bringing the compressor home today from my sister house. I'll see what I can find in the manual.

If there're seal would I still need paste? I think I read some couplers have O-ring seals.

Those kind of seals don't need anything. Certainly NOT teflon or any paste. Don't over think it.

For overkill: There are SOME rubber or rubberlike seals that benefit from a light safe clear silicone spray.

General question, Can a extension cord work with a compressor? I have a 12 gauge by 25ft cord.

    That should be fine.

In general yes. Larger cord for more current draw and/or longer cord. The owners manual probably has details.

Reading online, It draws 10A and the cord has a 15A rating.

Fired it up to check for leaks from the manufacturer. I heard a hissing sound, then check for leaks. The drain valve on the bottom was open.
