Ah. Very good. Smart, listen............yes sometimes we all leave the drain valve open. Never store with pressure ESPECIALLY if you ran it moist and cool.

Is it a good idea it leave the drain valve open at all times, when not in use?

I don't know if this is normal but it makes a weird sound for about 15 seconds right before it shut off when the tank is full. I doesn't make the sound while filling.

If your shop is dry and clean - either open or closed, not a huge difference but open allows best drainage.

Unknown on sound. Could be the pressure switch doing some kind bounce thing or just the pump itself as it works a bit harder.

Should the sound be steady and even until the compressor shuts off?

I only have a Viair air compressor to compare it to. Viair sound a lot better.

Best asking people who have the EXACT model as you.

My old Craftsman is so damn loud I just don't even listen within 50ft without earplugs and muffs - yes the sound changes as the pressure builds.

I don't know anyone with the same compressor.

Thank you, Sir for all the replies!

I'm watching YouTube reviews videos to listen for the same sound. Most videos don't show when it cuts off or the sound has been modify to hear the person speak.

Most compressors “unload” the pressure tube to the tank on shutdown, this is a slight air rush pssssh when pump shuts off. This drains head pressure for the next start so motor isn’t pushing against it on spin up. Helps keep inrush amperage lower and less wear on motor and belt (if equipped)

read directions, you’re likely supposed to run compressor for several minutes with drain open to seat piston seal and allow it to pump more efficiently after initial break in. Pretty common with oil free pumps.

All things SWAG Offroad are solid products. I don't own one, but have experience with it. It's a great option for semi-permanent bandsaw usage

The hissing noise isn't what I'm hearing. I'm familiar with the noise. It more like a cracking type of sound.

The owners manual doesn't say anything about a break-in period. I did find that information online. The replies were between 15 minutes to 30 minutes on break-in time.

@Chux loves his. I really like the idea of the portaband pro if I ever did it for both miter and table band saw applications. Only downside is you are limited to milwaukee cordless saws and only a couple kinds. Plus it's pretty pricey. The cheap ass in me will likely go with the Bauer and Swag table.
