Another way to beat the RFID is to live in the woods. No one comes out to where we live and most in the neighborhood didn’t even know our house existed at our last block party.

Any source for this? It does not seems like getting an RFID signal from outside a house (when the fob is inside) would really be that easy.

Gas is too expensive even for thieves to be driving around aimlessly; they just want to drive straight to the goods.:D

It’s extremely easy as the keys are usually left by the front door of most houses. You just need to be in range which is about 30+ feet away. Google for sources but it is happening often now in cities.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.

Yes, modern RFID receivers. There was a thread about this very thing a few weeks back. It used to be you needed to be very close to the fob to get the signal, nowadays, I think it was said they can receive it from a few hundred feet away.

    Man!

I use to have "The CLUB" for my steering wheel....WAY back in 1993 when I bought my New 5-speed Isuzu Rodeo. (I probably got rid of it during my military moves)

First, I bought the Talon CAT plate, then the tailgate lock...now this?

My wheel locks are on the way as I type this! lol

Once I get the MX4 BakFlip, I'll feel better about leaving the bed mat in my truck.

Are my OEM bed lights under scrutiny before I install them? lol

Bought a camper shell to keep stuff in back sorta safe. It’s usually empty though as prying eyes can’t steal what’s not there. If I am keeping stuff in the back, it’s in non-see-through totes. It’s never a fail safe, but it slows them down a bit. Oh, and the camper shell locks with my key fob as does the tailgate.

    I'm curious......

How does a manual transmission prevent a tow truck from loading and hauling off the stolen vehicle?????

The joyride thefts, yeah, it would likely deter. Although, I'm not convinced that joyride theft is using much "high" tech.

Camper shells are nice...I like the sleek look of them.

Before I graduate to a camper shell, the tonneau cover will be my initial purchase. I've somewhat convinced the wife that our groceries will be secured and on the bed mat so the flooring will grip/keep things from shifting during my "wild" driving/accelerating! (Evil Laugh ensues)

That bed mat is the best purchase I’ve made by far. Nothing moves at all. For the unstable bags, I loop them through the plastic tie down and then around it going towards the bottom. They lock into place nicely.

I plan on buying some sort of compartment device. Or maybe just some milk carton devices. Look at this...and the price???

Imo, if a thief wants your vehicle bad enough they will take it. Its up to you to make it tough enough that they will target the next guy.

They'll still find a way. Client of mine had his vehicle stolen that had a dead battery. Thieves had a battery with them they through into it and drove off.
