Pretty sure that's an ancient solution to an ancient problem - keeping the juices in where they belong.

    What, specifically, would that be?

"Don’t eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food. [...] Avoid food products containing ingredients that no ordinary human would keep in the pantry."

I hate turkeys. If you stand in the meat section at the grocery store long enough, you start to get mad at turkeys. There's turkey ham, turkey bologna, turkey pastrami. Some one needs to tell the turkey, 'man, just be yourself.'

This is the only thing I've eaten that's tasted like a burger, but wasn't a burger.

You guys must be eating some bad brands. They ain't bad in my opinion. :notsure:

Sad part is, most of America would greatly benefit from cutting red meat out of their diet. What is it these days.... 75% of adult are overweight?? Sad.

Only one I've had was a free impossible whopper some time ago that tasted basically like a whopper. Pretty meh. Tasted salt and ketchup and the burnt bits from the broiling. Nothing that's made me want to buy the products in the store rather than regular beef.

As for US obesity I'm doubtful that fake-meat products are really gonna do much when they're pretty high in fat and particularly saturated fat -- see https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog...lthy-are-these-meatless-burgers-2019081517448

IMHO the culprit is far more related to sedentary lifestyles combined with large portions of highly processed and high calorie-density foods.

Better IMHO to change one's eating habits towards reducing highly processed foods, focusing on plenty of vegetables & non-processed plants, with an appropriate amount of lean protein sources.

Going back to Michael Pollan: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." (and his definition of "food" means real food, not mystery stuff created by the food-industry with twenty unpronounceable ingredients)

    Getting back to No Talky...

A comet has been speeding toward Earth for 35,000 years and this month will be your one and only chance to see it before it leaves the Solar System forever

    NTB Staff
    Dec 7th, 2021 2:45 pm
Earth is receiving an icy visitor this month and if you're a generous host then you'll go outside to greet it before it disappears forever:

There is a new comet in town, and December is your only chance to see it before disappears forever. Astronomers say that Comet Leonard is our best and brightest comet to see in 2021.

The comet was first discovered in January by astronomer Greg Leonard. The celestial object has likely spent the last 35,000 years traveling toward the sun, according to Sky & Telescope, and once it makes a close pass of our star on January 3, we won't be seeing the comet again.

As the comet nears the sun, it brightens, which is why the weeks leading up to this event make the comet easier to see.

It's also an ultrafast comet, blazing through the inner solar system at 158,084 miles per hour (71 kilometers per second), but it will still appear like a slow-moving object due to its distance from Earth, according to EarthSky.

Get out there and check it out! If you can't fit it into your schedule, though, here's a convenient time lapse video of part of its passage:

Okay well that's not quite the same I guess.

Eating red meat isn't why there's an obesity problem. Some people only eat red meat and are healthier for going on a carnivore diet. Some people are healthier on a vegetarian diet. We are not all the same and our diet can't be chalked up to this or that only. Portion size and excessive junk food is the biggest issue.

Yep. Add lack of exercise too. The only time a lot of folks jump these days is too conclusions. As far as meat, I'm O negative blood. I gotta have meat. :)
