That reminded me. At the dealer he said there was a recall on the brake light on the cab, and he would fix mine for me. But they didn’t. Said they couldn’t get to it because of my RTT.

    Ok, I'll play.

These were two of my bikes, many years ago.

First bike ever - 2004 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200 Custom. I always wanted a bigger bike, but could never justify $20K+ on a motorcycle. I ended up with this Sportster, it only cost $10K, brand new in March 2004.

The other is a 2005 Yamaha R1, bought brand new in July 2005.

    Little back story.

My friend that taught me how to ride, had a Kawi EX500, total beater bike. Once I decided I was ready to make the leap, and buy my first bike (I was 37), I had my buddy teach me how to ride. Once I bought the Sportster, he decided that since he now had someone to ride with, he needed a new bike, so he bought a Yamaha FZ1 (sport-touring type). Once I got a few months under my belt and felt somewhat comfortable, I asked if I could ride his FZ1 around the block, just to see what a sportier, "crotch rocket" bike was like. Bad, bad move. I was instantly hooked. That bike could read my mind, it knew where I wanted to go, and it just did it. The Harley was quite a bit heavier,, and you needed some determination to make it do what you wanted. So the next summer, Yamaha was again having a Summer Super Sale..... and that Shift Red metallic flake paint put evil, evil thoughts into my brain. So I bought the R1. Pure sex on 2 wheels.

I loved both bikes, and I rode them pretty much equally. I rode to work every day, year round, except in the rain. Cold didn't bother me, I had a set of Carhart Arctic Coveralls that I wore in winter. They were so damn thick, they were almost like armor, and they worked perfectly to keep my ass warm.

In total, I put 57K+ miles on two wheels before I sold both bikes some time around 2011 or 2012. I never went down, never had any accidents on either bike. But I suffered a spinal injury in 2007 that made it very uncomfortable to pick my feet up high enough for the pegs on the R1, so I sold it first, and eventually the Harley about a year later.
