Deer hunting BS thread

Eastern VA is dog country also. its a fun hunt but as you near the BlueRidge which is the line. no dogs west of the BlueRidge. its alot of mountains compared to eastern flatlands. alot run beagles. absolutly my favorite. they are slow,yappy and dont push deer as hard n fast. ive had deer trot by. stop. eat an acorn as the beagles were pulling the ridge on their trail. they would just trot off and minutes later here comes them beautiful benchlegs just singing

 

VDGIF has a formula. undressed weight +17lbs. x 17%= gut weight. subtract from undressed weight.

 

I used to hunt in Halifax county here with a dog club, one of the dog drivers (he had beagles) if he had one dog out he wouldn't turn the rest out. I visited a club closer to home a few times and they ran hounds. I caught one once and stuck it in my box, got on the radio and said I had a dog, they said "turn it out"

The club I visited ran hounds, when you heard a dog you best be ready. I saw one dog running 3 deer one day so close he wasn't even using hos nose, he had a visual

the guys i went with use 4 beagles.may have more than one bunch out on different trails but always only ran 4 on a track

 

I had pics of this deer back in October, but haven’t gotten another since. Right after finding out my target buck is a goner, I found out this guy is still alive, and angles mean everything. This is all the same deer, and he’s hanging out about 1/2 mile from me pretty regularly. Another guy I know sent me the 2nd and 3rd pic from

well my oldest son pulled out headed for ILL. 3 day late muzzleloader. i never had the pleasure of an out of state hunt. he is a damn good hunter. we shot his gun to check for alittle longer range. only moved it 3 clicks left. at 150yds all shots were in the end of a Coke can at 150yd.he has praticed field scoring for weeks at work. his bud there is an offical B&C scorer.he brings up a pic and says whats it score. making sure he knows a legit 130”. im very excited. told him if i didnt get daily pics we would have words. Prayers for safe travels. im jacked for him

All summer sausage and jerky besides the steaks.

 

loose lips sink the hunt spot Mike. lol,if or should say when(one day ole buddy)you hunt with me you would think i never see anything or dont know how to hunt.ill either say saw none or they all winded me and blew at me. actually going out tommorow to move a stand just a bit. late muzzle comes in Saturday and off work next week. Im not done yet
