    :fistbump:

Sometime in the second half of the nineties, but I'm too lazy to look it up.
    Mine is a 2004 VN800 Classic.
IIRC, in 2006 they bored it out to 900 and changed it a lot...and not for the better.

I don't need a fast bike anymore...though I've pegged the speedo on the Vulcan at 120mph.
    Just to see. :)
It's actually faster in the quarter mile than the 1500/1600 Vulcans.

It's by far the most reliable bike I've ever owned.
    No handling quirks whatsoever.

I was thinking that the Vulcan come out in like 1980 or 1981 but it must have been someone else, acquaintance that had one...parked in the living room no less.

    Hmm...maybe :notsure:

I'm speaking specifically about the 800.
    It's very old-fashioned.
Carb, chain drive, valve shims, etc.
Which I can work on...the new bikes... fuggedaboutit.
No mechanic has ever gotten his grubby mitts on that bike except to do inspections. :)

The bigger ones (Nomad, etc)...too heavy.

The first year for Vulcan was 1985 so it wasn't the guy I was thinking of that had one.

Speaking of bikes, I swear sporties have killed more young guys than anything.
Too much powah + not enough experience = very dead.

I'm not one to follow the news, but Mrs Gritto does and never fails to tell me.
Just around here in the Sticks there were a couple in the last few years.
One guy, aged 19, bought a sportie and wrapped it around a tree on the way home (misjudged a curve).
Another young Marine, just back from 'Stan, killed himself and his fiancee on a Hayabusa.

When I remember the shit I used to do...
